My driver side battery has a component on the negative battery post. The component clamps to the post and the battery cables connect to a stud on the component. There is a connector on the front end of the component with two small gauge wires. I figure this is either a current sensor or a switch of some kind but it would only measure current into or out of the driver side battery or switch the driver side battery on or off. Does anyone know what this is?

Thanks,

Al

Maybe something for a battery warmer?

I know exactly what you are talking about and I'm wondering the same thing.

Here is what he's talking about

Seriously? Does it eject the battery if it gets too hot?

I have no clue. Google foo for the part number "04692269AI" comes back as a battery temp sensor.

Theory of operation I do not yet know.

I knew you were joking. :favorites13:

Anyways, best I can ascertain, it is part of the charging circuit regulation.

Finally, but a little late it seems

I just didn't have the chance to take a picture until this morning. I never thought about googling the part number. Ain't the internet something?

So apparently then the lug where the battery cable connects is directly connected to the battery post and conducts the heat from the battery out to the sensor. I'm installing a ham radio. Chryslers instructions say to connect to the body where the cable attaches and the radio instructions say to connect to the battery post. I'm trying to find the best place and didn't know which side of this thing to connect to. Sounds like it doesn't matter.

Thanks all,

Al
