Really?! Actually its a simpler life but a harder life. Like both buildings here (Main House and Guest house) are heated by only firewood. (No electric heat or propane) So that means I got to haul back at least 12 cords a winter. It will cost me roughly $400 bucks for the entire winter for heat... Try that with electric heat, propane, or natural gas...

So yes I must work harder to fall the tree, buck it up into rounds, then load it up on the truck, haul it home, then unload it, split it up in chunks, then stack in the wood shed.

Then during the winter take the ATV down to the wood shed load it up and bring up firewood every day to the house. There is no thermstat on the wood stove to if you want it hotter stuff more wood in... If you want it cooler then you got to use less wood. So once winter flies here we are trapped to the property we can't leave it for long periods because the pipes will freeze.

So enjoy getting out now because winter time is coming...

Like I posted in another thread... There is some homes here in Idaho totally without power yet. (No joke)

The sherrif deputy in Riggins, ID lives in Lucile, ID and has no city power... Just solar and a inverter. (No joke)

The town of Yellow Pine, ID just got telephone for the first time like in 2006. The way they place calls was to go over to the airport and radio over to Casade, ID airport and have them place the calls for you. (No joke)

yellow pine idaho - Google Maps

Just think this is 4 foot deep and about -20*F outside... (Tire chains are for wussies!)

Whats the red light for?

~TapaTalkAHolic~

I was (past tense) part of the local fire dept (Salmon River Rural Fire Dept) and then switch over to Idaho County Search And Rescue. I later on switch with a buddy for his LED red light which hang from my mirror and he took my big roof red light.

But here is pic of me from the Heavens Gate Complex fire when I was working Heli-Base.

(Left my buddy Kelly Hinkley, Me in the center, **** Stone to right)

Yeap. This time I hitched up the 8x8 trailer and stuff it back in the trees and now loading 2 cords plus on both the truck and trailer. Smaller trees this time an d bit drier abut still shove me off the mountain with the exhaust brake rattling all the way down...

Looking towards Oregon. The flat ground on the other side is Oregon and in the bottom of the canyon is Snake River which happens to be trhe state line. I'm about 7,500ft up in elevation.

Thank you... I'll continue to get more and more and share with you guys and gals here...

If you show up in Idaho give me a call... I'd be more than happy to give you a tour of the country out here...

Strong work there

Ah... Not really the previous loads where serious work but this one was much lighter in weight just more of it in one shot. I've got my 12 cords all piled into the shed split and stacked now I'm working on next years wood...

Matter of fact we have create a trail back up on the hill for quite a distance and open up a bunch more for firewood gathering...
