Back when I was younger, a friend's stepdad worked at a stereo shop and had a late 90's Denali with planet audio 15's back when those were really new and huge. Shook my brain and gave me the bass bug.

Fast forward to when I was 13-14 years old, my dad let me put in my first "system" in one of our cars. I found some subs at a pawn shop and the amp was unknown from one of his friends. I'll never forget the subs though. Two Funky Pup subs in a prebuilt dual woofer box with horn tweeters. They moved like crazy but didn't really put out much bass. If at all.

My first car was a 1987 Suzuki Samurai and at the time, my mother was dating a guy who owned a professional sound company. He was adamant that speakers with a foam surround did not accurately reproduce bass. He set me up with a single 15" Electro-Voice subwoofer and custom designed the box that took up the entire cargo and rear seating area. It sounded pretty good I thought but in the interest of having a back seat, I eventually went with a dual 10" Bazooka.

Nice, woojyee! I never owned bazookas but my brother did. I was pretty impressed with the sound that came out of those little guys.

[emoji23] yes, graygoose. I thought speakers were speakers back then. Those got replaced with baby kicker 8's in individual kicker boxes and they were a huge improvement! These subs were in a 1974 Dodge Ramcharger SE all-time 4x4. You could pick hi or lo. The removable top would rattle and I thought it was the coolest.

How could I forget...
87 wrangler, two Lanzar 8" pros in a ported box
Alpine 2 channel amp
Sony tape deck
I've never lost respect for 8's since....punched super sharp and I loved it
Then I went down the rabbit hole

I think it was pioneer 6x9's in the back and 3.5's in the front
Awia head unit cause it was awesome that it changed color and I could plug a headphone jack into it.

87 accord, 3 JL 10w6 in a ported box, phoenix gold m44 and m100, MBquart components in the doors and the deck (yes I had tweets mounted to my decklid) and an eclipse head unit. Far more dollars than sense at that time. Im not sure how I paid for that back then come to think of it because 1. it was before the internet 2. Bought from a stereo shop 3. I was washing dishes for a living.

My first system was 10 years ago. I had a 200 dollar Pioneer 's player and I installed some CDT 6.5s pushed by I can't remember what amp. I installed a diamond d3 10 in a truck box because the car was a convertible and space was a joke and I ran it with a directed amp.
The system never really sounded good because 1 I hardly had a clue what I was doing and 2 the 4th gen camaros just suck for stereos. Especially when it's a convertible. I still have the car. And the system has been overhauled since but the car is in need of some tlc. I'm hoping to take care of it next year.

Great comments, guys. It's cool to hear about the beginnings since the ages range quite a bit.

My first system was in my dad's ramcharger, but my first car's system had a pioneer deck, Sony xplod coxials, American legacy 2000watt amp, 2 audiobahn 12's that advertised 1000 rms each, capacitor, custom built ported box for the hatch in my '89 mustang gt. They did their job even though I had no clue what I was doing. [emoji23]

2000 S-10 SCSSB, 2 JL Audio 10's in custom behind the seat box with Alpine amp mounted behind back-lit plexi in the middle of the box. Don't remember wattage on amp and had an Alpine head unit. Sounded good for what I wanted, now a days I don;t really care for that kind of stuff.

I can't even remember who made my first cassette deck I bought to replace my stock AM/FM and Craig under dash 8-track player, but I do remember it was mad expensive, was a bi-amp system driving Craig Powerplays, I thought it sounded great back then, wonder how I would feel about the sound now...

My first "system" was a Kraco AM/FM/cassette in dash post unit in my '66 Chevy Pickup. I put Flea Market 6X9 3-ways in the doors and thought I was the shizt back in '84.
