Hey guys, I tried searching and didn't see what I was looking for.. if it's already out there just point me in the right direction please. I got a (new to me) 2015 2500 with 4.10 axle for work and towing my camper and have been looking into tires/wheels. My question relates to wheel size. My ram has factory 20" wheels. Would going down to 18" improve the ride/towing or should I just stick with the 20s? I'm also looking to have a winter set along with my summer set, any preference for wheel size during winter driving? Appreciated.

18”s would give you more side wall, wich would mean a little softer when towing as it will flex a little more.
Everyone has different opinions for winter/summer tires,
If u want different tires for winter, find a set of 2500 take off rims for a reasonable price and just have the winter tires mounted to them.

Gratz on the new truck!!!

Like Ratket touched on.

18 will give you a better ride, but a little softer when towing. So it's a +/-
You can also stay with a 20" wheel and lower the tire pressure to 50 psi. I'm running 50 psi front & rear. Ran that on both 295/65r20s & my current 37x12.50s.

I'd say 18s will be good. Unless you're towing / hauling really heavy, they should be good with tires about stock height. To be honest, on 37s at 55 psi the tires barely buldge when I had a yard of topsoil in the back.

OP, will correct me if I'm wrong but i believe the price of 18" tires will be quite a bit less that the corresponding tire size in a 20" wheel. I also personally like more meat on my wheels over the lower profile tires, especially on 4x4 trucks. This looks damn good IMO.

18" wheel wrapped in a 295/70/18. Stock ride height. And I'm a pic *****.

Has anyone run aftermarket 17's on a newer Ram? I know on Ford it is a very tight fit but I like some of the 17" tires/sizes.

17's should fit. AEV has 17" wheels for Ram HD trucks. AEV is known for their high quality (and corresponding high price) and lots of time in R&D on their products. They have wheels in both a 17x8.5 +27mm & 17x10 -15mm. If I was in the market for new tires and had the extra jack for wheels, I'd love to go with some of their Katla wheels !

I run aftermarket blackrock steel 17's on my 2012, they fit with plenty of room for the calipers. 17" wheels have a much better tire selection than 18's as well.

Yeah, that's a solid look. I'm not overly fond of how the 20's look or feel so I'm appreciating a bit of confirmation. 18" tires are definitely a bit cheaper, I just need to find some wheels now.

17"s work just fine! Ran them on my '12 3500 with no problems. My Power Wagon came with 17"s and I will stick with that size when I swap out for aftermarket.

18s or 17s with a bigger meat will def improve the ride for you.

Those wheels look great. And the tire size is awesome too. I’m looking at either 285/75/18s or 295/70/18s
