I am going to install an LED light bar in the front, "rock" lights underneath and reverse lights. I am going to wire the rock lights to come on with dome lights, reverse on when in reverse, BUT I want to be able to manually turn them on.
So, where have you guys been installing your switches?
PLEASE post pictures if you can, thanks!

I was considering that location. Any chance you have any instal pics, or an explanation of how and where you ran wires?

that location might not be a good idea if you have a 1500 with the 8 speed, the manual park release is behind that panel

I ran the wires thru where the clutch master cylinder would be

That may be your best location that monteholic mentioned. I'm going through the same issue and didn't want to drill into the panel. I have this cheap rig up going right now. When cruising the county roads at night, where I have it can be a pain to get to quick enough to turn off with oncoming traffic. If you use it in that manner, make sure it is somewhere you can access quickly, especially if you get a quality bar, they are ridiculously blinding and can no doubt blind and run someone off the road. Im just going to have to mount it right and if the future owner doesn't want the light bar, they can deal with replacing the panel...

I don't know if this helps, but I anticipate 3 switches but there could also be more. I like the rocker switches with led light on them...think they are about 1.75" deep plus a little more room for wire terminations.

I think a great idea would be on the roof console to the rear of sunroof and back window controls. The factory controls lay horizontal and I was thinking about installing these new switchs "vertically"

Hopefully someone has done this????

What I did, debated on this for a day and could not find anywhere else that I liked better and had nothing behind it to get in the way.
I left room to put another one beside it if need be.

I want to use the rectangular switches, so they won't fit right there but I was also thinking about 4" closer to steering column. My concern there is a lack of space behind the panel, don't know bc I haven't checked.
Any idea of space available???

I cant remember for sure but I think when you get close to the steering wheel there is less room behind it.

This spot works great for my '13 (6spd) because there is nothing behind it and it is a $5 panel to replace if I ever need to take the switches out.

I like that. May have to mount mine there.

There is plenty of room for wiring behind the cover, and enough space for 3 of the large switches like I have(maybe more if you use smaller switches) [emoji106]

if you have the 8spd trans you cant out anything there, that area has the emergency park release behind it on our trucks
