I'd like to seal the tailgate of my Ram 1500.

Can anyone recommend a really good seal and for that matter, which ones to stay away from.

thanks.

Just a quick update.
Following the link in one of the above post, I find that depending on the truck, some people will complain about a seal either being too thick or not thick enough. That's the problem with universal seals.
Following one of the alternate seals, I found a post about contacting these people Extruded Solutions, Inc. to get a recommendation for a seal that's might be a better fit. It was suggested to ask about MaxSeal with Taper Seal.
Since its Sunday, I doubt that I'll hear back from them for a few days. I'll post what I find out.

Tailgate seal

I just ordered the Retrax tailgate seal. I'm going to install the RetraxPro MX and had called the manufacturer and spoke with one of their reps who had sealed his truck and seemed happy with the Retrax tailgate seal. He didn't try to push sealing the tailgate on me but when I asked about it he was telling me how he put it in his truck and it cut down on dust/dirt and water getting sucked into the back because once the tonneau cover is on it creates a vacuum like effect.

I can't say how good it is yet since I haven't received it yet but it's another option to research

Here's a link to part numbers.

I ended getting it off eBay for $29.99

You can run this one, good manufacturer so I would, bet the quality is good, I'm going to get it here shortly.

http://www.amazon.com/TruXedo-17032...&qid=1460122486&sr=1-2&keywords=Tailgate+Seal

this is the one i used and it works great. Only been on the truck a couple months so i cant speak for the longevity but it appears to be on there really tight.

I've had the TruXedo tailgate seal on for a couple of years now, seems to be holding up and working just fine.

I also used the Truxedo seal. Works fine. When first installed, it makes the tailgate a little hard to close, but as the gasket forms to the truck over time, that gets easier.

Forgive my ignorance here, but why seal the tailgate?

In my 07 Ram I had a cap on it with a Bedrug. Salt and moisture came up through the gap and deteriorated the zipper on the Bedrug and there was just a lot of dirt under it in the tailgate area. I have the same set up on my 13 with the tailgate seal and nothing is getting in as compared to my 07.

Dumb question, why do this mod? I just think of water pooling in the truck or am I missing something. Thanks :) (Seriously not being a smarta$$, really would like to know)

Edit:
Never mind read further, I haven't had an issue with dirt but maybe I am lucky?

Helps seal the bed. When you install a tonneau it creates a slight negative pressure in the bed; dust, etc, gets sucked in through every possible opening.
Did not know this,I guess I thought I was finished spending money on the truck lol.
