I have a 03 Ram 1500 quad cab 4x4 that has a 4.7 v8, 5 speed MANUAL transmission and 3.55 gears (with stock 17" wheels and tires). I am thinking of changing the gears to 3.92 or 4.10 so it will pull a little better. Has anyone done this? Did it help the power? What will I need to do to correct the speedo? I am pulling a 7000 lb camper and 4th gear at 55mph is not good. With no load @ 55mph the truck runs 3000 rpm in 3rd gear, 2100 in 4th gear and 1550 in 5th gear. Would 4.10 be to low of gear? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

i went with 4.56 when i had to re build after having a pinion bearing quit on me. made a huge differemce with the v6, 6 speed manual and 20's. Just recently had my tool box in the bed which is 500lbs unloaded and probably around 1000lbs loaded. truck didnt struggle one bit, last time with stock 3.21's it broke a sweat. i dont tow with it but from 3.21 to 4.56 it was a huge difference.
