I ordered a set of these Mopar Kickers. A little more expensive then off the shelf Kickers, but from what I've read, they are slightly modified to be a direct fit and have factory connectors so no splicing.

I'm hoping they sound a little less muddy than the stock speakers. Also ordered the Kicker DS35 with adapter connectors for the dash. It'll be sometime next week before I get everything and install them though.

just looking at them i would think they would be better than the paper stock speakers. However i am still impressed with the sound of the stock non alpine stereo in my truck.

They are indeed plug and play, and MOUNDS over factory. They are very similar to the aftermarket ones, just adapted to plug and play right into the factory with no mods at all.

I have the none Alpine 6 speaker base system with the 130 RES and Uconnect.

It actually doesn't sound bad now, but with the paper 6X9's and no real tweeters, it's kind of flat or muddy sounding. I figure these kickers should be a pretty inexpensive and easy boost to the sound quality.

That seller, Steve White Motors, has a lot of good deals on their eBay site. I sat and looked at every item they had listed for Ram's last week.

what was better for you? The highs or the bass?

Improvement all around, especially the mids and highs, which were muddy or non-existent. Couldn't even hear the dash speakers before. I only wish the stock HU had more than just bass, mid and treble controls. It's a crime that Chrysler hasn't put a graphic EQ on these radios.

Installed!!!

All I can say is Wow, what a difference a few speakers make. I think the biggest improvement was actually from the DS35's in the dash. Those came in on Wednesday and I installed them first that day. With the Crutchfield harness adapters, they were plug and play and took all of 20 minutes to install. Those made a huge improvement on the mids and highs. I actually had to turn down the treble. I could now hear that I had speakers in the dash and couldn't really tell before. Much crisper sound.

The Mopar Kicker 6x9's came in today. I was in a hurry since we're heading out camping later today but I'm impatiant and wanted them in now! LOL. Being direct fit replacements, they also only took 20 minutes or less from start to finish.

They also made a big improvement, but not as dramatic as the dash speakers. Much cleaner bass and more punch. I like the way they have the factory connectors on them too. From what I've read, Kicker also made some subtle changes to the basket to make them a direct fit.

Overall, a vast improvement. The whole system actually sounds like it has more power then it did with the paper factory speakers.

I had a Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD in my Colorado (which I still need to eBay) and I honestly think this Mediacenter 130 RES system sounds at least as good and seems to have more power and bass. Of course, that's probably because the Ram has four 6x9's and two 3.5's. The Colorado had four 5 1/4" and two tiny little tweeters. Plus a much larger door cavity.

So what does it take to get to the dash speakers?

The speaker covers on the dash are just snapped on. Just pop the cover off with a small screw driver. Remove the two screws that hold in the speakers and they lift right out.

I highly recommend the harness adapters from crutchfield though. The adapters plug into the factory speaker plug harness and then you just plug the other ends into the new speakers. The factory wires are short and it would be a pain to splice into them in that tight spot between the windshield and dash.

Thanks,
I ordered the KS35s from Crutchfield...
