For me , I do a lot of driving on farms mainly during hunting seasons. With a lot of short trips , stopping for a few mins and on the go again ....also during lunch I go to the parking lot and sit in my truck , I start it sometimes for the A/C. Not having to click the seatbelt is nice in these situations..Huh. I didn't think driving buckled up was that big of an issue for people.
Maybe it's just a cultural thing.
Do these same steps repeated reset the programming to the factory setting?A repeat:
1. Sit in truck and close all the doors: do NOT start truck.
2. Buckle seatbelt.
3. Put truck in the RUN position: do NOT start truck. Turn keyfob to RUN or (keyless) do NOT press brake pedal; press start button twice.
4. Wait for seatbelt lamp to go out on DID or EVIC.
5. You now have 60 seconds to complete the next steps.
6. Within 10 seconds, unbuckle, then rebuckle, the seatbelt 3 times, ending with the seatbelt buckled. Watch the DID/EVIC and ensure the seatbelt lamp turns on/off each time you buckle/rebuckle the seatbelt.
7. Put the truck in the OFF position. Turn keyfob to OFF or (keyless) press the start button once. A single chime should sound indicating programming complete.
Notes:- The seatbelt chime will still sound 5 times when starting the truck. The seatbelt lamp will always be on. You will occasionally get messages saying seatbelt unbuckled on DID or EVIC.
Now that's super sweet!A real simple solution that I used is to get just the male end from a belt and stick it in the buckle...no chime and no light. You can acquire said male end from a u-pull-it yard or go to a dealer and buy a seat belt extender.
I have tried 6 times on my 18. Must not be holding my mouth right. Will try again tomorrow.
I haven't seen this any where on the forum, but found out how to disable the seatbelt chime while driving. The seat belt light on the EVIC is still on though. If any one is interested this is what to do......
1. sitting in the truck buckle the seat belt.
2. turn on ignition without starting the truck.
3. wait for the seatbelt light to go off on the EVIC
4. with in 10 seconds, unbuckle, rebuckle 3 times. leaving the seat belt buckled the third time.
5. Turn off ignition. you should hear a chime confiring the change.
Take a quick drive to see if it worked.
