not according to this poll.....but a close 2nd anyway.
I use it in all my motors........synthetic is better in all instances......except maybe a bath oil........but I use it there as well.

You are aware you cannot get PUP anywhere, and you can get M1 literally everywhere? If not for Amazon and ebay, there would be no PUP. PUP is a failed experiment, likely because of cost point, but failed none the less. Is it "better" quality then m1, you can make an argument either way. No knock on Pennzoil, other then their marketing skills. I hope someday I see PUP on a costco shelf, I will buy the hell out of it.

This is just my opinion but I think alot have left Mobil1 just because of not having the ms6395 approval, the ones that are worried about warranty issues. I can sort of understand it but over the years I have done some no no's as far as what oil and OCI etc and have never lost an engine. Sometimes I think we put way too much worry and thought in all of this. The thing that really surprises me is how many truck owners go to the dealer to get their oil changed.

So out of the options listed which would be the oil most often found on shelves that contains the most moly? Pennzoil Platinum?

Most moly, that would be the million dollar question with the changes in oil specs with Gen2. If I was buying off the shelf I'd probably go Mobil 1 EP, Castrol edge black bottle, Pennzoil platinum, Quaker state ultimate durability. Not necessarily in that order.

I don't know if this is factual or someone's pipe dream because I read this on the internet. Supposedly the new mobil1 annual is not doing that well as far as sales goes. Sounds like people are sticking with their mobil1ep.

I wish I did not know what PUP was! It would mean I have not "wasted" countless hours on BITOG and other forums agonizing about oil when virtually any full synthetic will do in today's modern engines. Ha! I've yet to see an engine failure due to oil if the viscosity and OCI recommendations from the manufacturer are followed.

I have never seen PUP on a shelf anywhere I've looked. I've had to get it online, mostly from Amazon. Sad really, it's a great oil.

And if you want PUP 0w20, good luck finding it for anything less than $10/qt. Summitracing.com has the 5 qt jugs for $50 and Walmart.com. is selling it for $15+/qt!

How could you ever prove all of the many engines failures were due to the oil? Somewhere near 30 or 40 engine failures on this site? At least 50 on the other ram forum. Would they have been prevented if the owner would have used a more hearty base oil with anti wear and pressure additives? I don't know, but I can tell you if I was one of those 80 people I would have wished i tried.

When you look at the absolutely ridiculous way the gov't has effected engine oil and weight, it is no surprise there are issues. Look no further then the eco diesel, despite all of the pressure to run thin oil FCA said to hell with you run a thicker viscosity. I believe the same thing is happening in gas engines, but if FCA did the same they would probably be hung for treason.

If you want to run **** thin oil in your truck, nobody cares gl with that, it may work out for you. I personally chose a different strategy.

to each there own, but aside from being synthetic I use whats recommended , to me being synthetic is by far the key to longer engine life, jmho.

Just because it's synthetic don't make it good, there are conventional oils out there that outperform some synthetics, PYB being one of them.
