The yellowing or gold color of the SS is due to heat. Usually only a problem with thin wall SS that is single walled (Moe’s branded tips). All they need to do is weld in a inner sleeve to create a cushion of air to not allow the heat to get to the outer shell that you see. The carven tips are thicker and this less likely to heat up as much. My carvens have not yellowed.

Or a dual walled slanted tip which I had on my 14 with a dynomax catback. The dual walled tip accomplishes the same thing but looks better doing it.

It’s a simple fix and there is a guy on eBay selling bolt on 5” ram tips with the sleeve welded on in the inside and was going to be my choice before I decided on the carvens.

1) I have never ordered tips from Moe's but I have ordered several other things and felt that I was always treated very well. My Diablo tuner had some hiccups in getting the tune from HemiFever and if I recall Moe's was nothing but helpful in making sure I was taken care of.

2) If any of you with Moe's tips are unhappy with them and want to part ways let me know. I want to Cerakote a set black for my truck and would rather not purchase a nice new shiny set to do so.

I haven't installed mine yet but I will say they are advertised as polished and they came looking like brushed nickel with very evident scratch marks from some sort of polishing but not anything near the chrome appearance of the stock ones. No I didn't call to complain I'm paying to have them polished the rest of the way($50.00). Now I am worried they will turn gold or tarnish. I cant find them on Moe's website any more either.

If you read the whole thread you'd see in post 43 that Moe's pulled the tips off their site until they can make sure the quality of the tips is up to par.

averageguy- before you do anything with those tips why don't you call Matt and talk to him about the tips and what your plans are. He might have some suggestions for you.

I might do that. The additional polishing required sucks but I did want them on my truck so I figured it is what it is in that regard. The discoloring however would be an issue. Too late on the polishing though they have one done as of last night.

Agreed. Guys, if you want a prompt response, don't email or post on a forum...pick up the phone!
Not trying to kick a dead horse or bash Matt whatsoever, with that said... I personally called his # twice and got no response and no ability to leave a message, also E-mailed MOES twice with no response and this was roughly 7ish months ago. Again i am not bashing matt or moes and he is going to fix these mistakes apparently so awesome!
But you making these statements is trying to discredit people like me who tried many times to reach out to moes and were 100% ignored by them or him

EDIT: MANY people have obviously got great service and products from moes and are very happy with the vendor so i am not trying to discredit that either, just simply stating there are others that didnt have a good experience

Can you send me a picture of which tips you received? If they were part of the bad batch, I would rather you not install them on the truck as they are likely going to have the same rust issue. The inconsistent polish was another problem we had with this run of tips. All of which is being fixed, so I am more than happy to replace them for you if they were part of this bad batch.

Not trying to revive a dead horse, but I would like to close my part of these 8 pages by saying...I finally got a chance to speak with Matt on Friday and I am completely satisfied with the outcome, and will continue to be a customer and recommend Moes Performance in the future. Matt was very kind, considerate, knowledgeable, and stood behind his product!

Is there going to be a cheap run of 5" tips that were returned? I wont ***** about it if I get a significant discount on a "bad batch" set. Better than tossing them!

A “bad” batch set would be perfect for someone that wants to strip them and paint, powder, or cerakote them anyway

The remaining tips from that batch have already been sandblasted and coated black. The black tips will be up on the website early this week.

Someone mentioned "Blue Away" earlier in this thread. I tried some of it on some polished and chrome stuff yesterday and I gotta say that's some good stuff. Used it, then followed up with a regular chrome polish and WOW. Would highly recommend it. Got it on Amazon.

If anyone buys the black 5 inch tips that is being sold on Moe's Performance, please do a review or write up with pictures. I would be very interested to know the quality of how these turned out.

Well, I just found this thread 5 minutes after ordering a set of 5” Black tips and a Borla muffler. If the black tips are just reworked from a bad batch I don’t think I want them. Not worth the worry.
