I want to ask the experts here, because this one is a headscratcher. My next truck is likely going to be one of these.

If I have this correct...the PW comes with a 6.4 Hemi, 4.10s, a winch, larger tires, Bilstein shocks, special PW interior, badging/decals, and black flares. But the PW also has a much lower tow rating than a comparable tradesman that comes with 4.10s.

If I didn't care about the badging/decals or the interior, is there any reason to still consider the PW? I am likely to go Thuren suspension, larger tires, AEV bumper and Katzskin interior. Definitely set on the 6.4 Hemi.

Locking front and rear diffs, factory winch. Lots of nice kit on those trucks that don't come on anything else. Also adds weight hence the lower tow rating.

The lockers are the important parts so thats up to you. All of the PW things could be added other than the sway bar, but still the PW is a lot of truck. Id go PW

Also keep in mind you can go over tow rating, just not payload. I see a ton of SRW 1 tons licenced at 16,500 kg GVW that keep log books and roll over scales daily operating as hotshots. that's over 36,000lbs gross so way more than manufacturers tow rating, but still legal. Guy at work pulls a 42' pinnacle 5th wheel that's close to 15,000 lbs loaded with his. Says misses his diesel when he pulls it, but it pulls fine.

It is *possible* to do anything. The only restriction is the thickness of your wallet.

I work in trucking and the towing capabilities of these new pickups is one thing I'm really uncomfortable with. Even a lowly 1500 can tow 10,000lbs with the proper setup... that's WAY more than your Average Joe even needs to think about towing behind a pickup without some sort of special training.

I know where I live if your RV is over a certain weight you have to take the higher class license test and get an endorsement on your license. Includes taking a driver's test pulling the trailer and a pre-trip inspection. I only have a standard license, but I have an endorsement for vehicle of any GVW without air brakes. The RV only one is the same test, but doesn't require the 5 year doctors physical requirement.

A Power Wagon and a Tradesman Power Wagon are the exact same, mechanically. The differences are in the interior and exterior options.

Axles, springs, gears, lockers, sway bar, winch, frame.... everything under the truck is the same.

If there are differences in the payload or towing capacity, that comes from the weight difference in the interior/exterior finish items. If there is a significant difference in payload or towing capacity listed somewhere, it’s a misprint.

Low_Sky is correct. He should know, he owns a Tradesman PW.

The only difference is the looks and upgraded interior.

This is what I was hoping for. THanks guys. Not a huge fan of badging and I am funny about my interiors. I think I am leaning towards the Tradesman PW (when I do pull the trigger).

Mine’s a Laramie, but same applies for the years they were made.

That's what I'd do. And the way you like to mod things out... lol it'll become a super wagon kinda like mine is gonna be as soon as my wallet fills its self up...
