Just got these put on yesterday. Really happy with how they ride – balanced up perfectly with no vibes at all. A definite "MT singing" at highway speeds, but not anything I can't live with. So glad to get rid of the 315/70 KO2s –– I'm not sure BFG knows how to consistently make tires that are not out of round.

I'll be adding a Wilco hitch mount spare tire carrier and a full size spare in the next few weeks. The factory spare will have to do for now. The Toyo MT 35x12.5 was just too big to work in the spare tire location, even with most of the air let out. I got it all the way up in there, but it was pushing against/touching both the hitch and the sway bar.

shut up...no way.. looking now
....
....
just called. its not quite ready and it is on hold.. AEV said just hold patiently for another couple weeks.
i asked if i should just order, he mentioned to hold off until the announcement of it.

....
....
screw it, im ordering anyways

I ordered as well... But they shouldnt be posting stuff for sale as in stock if it's not ready yet. That's kind of upsetting...

Did you guys get your 2018 ProCal? Mine arrived today, and I'm concerned that the required semi-permanent wiring modification to the ODBII connector could void a big chunk of the factory warranty and/or be used to deny claims.

I get mine on Wed so I'll have to read what all is required. Unless you wanna post up photos of the instructions?

it is reversible isnt it? i read the directions and i dont recall any cutting or splicing.
if your careful with the hardware, dont cut or damage any plastic, you should be able to deny any modification.

i believe you can make the changes with the procal, then remove the harness until you need to make any further changes.

Installing the 2018 bypass involves more than just the adapter between the ODBII and the ProCal – there are separately a set of two wires (open connectors on one end, joint plug on the other) that go into the ODB II that cross-connect it to the Star connector. You have to remove the OBDII connector locks, then insert the two open terminals into the ODBII connector harness, reinstall the connector locks, then insert the plug end of the wires into any of the Star connector openings.

If the dealer has to look up under the ODBII connector they will see it. If they have to use the STAR connector for anything, the plug would have to be removed.

I think it may be reversible, but the wires between the ODBII and Star connector will have to be removed each time you go in to the dealer to be on the safe side (because of nightmare stories of dealerships "flagging" your vehicle in the system, then you're screwed).

So I guess, though, you're saying install it, make your settings, then uninstall it? I guess that would work so long as when you put the connector lock back on, it doesn't permanently attach the metal terminals. They look like they each have a wing that might bend into place to lock them in. Not sure.

^^ Spoke with AEV tech support. Wires are not meant to be installed and removed all the time (though removal is possible without damage). Said likelihood of dealership even noticing is remote. Didn't know if STAR connector is used by dealer service department for anything.

I'm going to think it over and decide whether to install and not worry about it or return it.

This doesn't make me happy... I find it hard to believe any modifications to any port are necessary just because of what RAM has done on 2018 models. I could be wrong though. I believe a couple members in thr PW forum are actually techs with RAM and reached out to AEV in an attempt to assist them with getting the ProCal set up so it would work like the previous version.

I'm just irritated because what has always been a plug-and-play product is now an "install". In hindsight, I would have just paid the dealer to set the new tire size and moved on.

I already talked to the dealership bout that when they put my wheels and tires on from my old truck. They said the highest they can go is the 33s. There isn't an option to input anything bigger. Some dealerships have a 3rd party vedorn who installs aftermarket parts and they have the products to do it though.

does this new bypass harness negate the need to visit the dealer at all?

complete plug and play at home and no dealer visit to "lock in" and finalize the code?

i anticipate installing the bypass harness, plug in procal, remove both, and never plug it in again?

My dealer just left the settings for 33" tires as their was no option for the 35s.

I guess it's ProCal or nothing, then.

I'm not sure if it still requires the dealer to lock in the code for the TPMS adjustments.

I didn’t read the 2018 instructions, but I’d wager you still need the dealer trip. I ordered one for my 2015 by phone last week and the guy I spoke with said the only thing new about the 2018 model is the harness to bypass Ram’s security feature, same old Procal module.

Got the bypass wiring installed and set the tire size this morning. Toyo MT 35x12.5 measured out exactly 34" in front. Speedometer is now accurate to within about 1/2 MPH, verified by GPS app on my phone.

I had to use the photo in the instructions of where the wires plug into the back of the ODBII since even though they say the plug slots are numbered, I couldn't find them/see them even with strong reader glasses on.

[Removed comment about connector plug – issue solved]

Interesting that the RAM ProCal can never be unpaired with the vehicle unlike the one I had for my Wrangler.

One thing is for sure – I got way too used to driving this thing with the speedometer being off – feels like I'm going so slow when I drive the speed limit now.

The cable used to adapt the ProCal to the front of the 2018's ODBII when programming is a little flakey at staying pushed in all the way. The weight of the cable itself seems to pull it away from the ODBII connecter. To get the horn to honk to confirm the programming required wiggling and pushing the adapter cable back against the ODBII connector (both times – first time to pair the ProCal, second time to set the tire pressure).

Interesting that the RAM ProCal can never be unpaired with the vehicle unlike the one I had for my Wrangler.

Did you check to see if the ProCal worked in thr OBD II without issues? I just installed mine and used the provided OBD connector cable and had no issues.

Did you check to make sure the wires in ports 1 and 9 were seated properly before you put the locks back in? It's possible those two are causing the issue unless the ProCal works in the port without the connector.

I figured it out – user error. I wasn't pushing the connector cable far enough into the ODBII so that it locked in place. Works perfectly now.

TPMS settings updated by visiting dealer. I had a copy of the page from the ProCal manual with the appropriate instructions highlighted, which really helped. ProCal is done.

Next up, figuring out where/how to mount the full size spare. I was going to go with the Wilco tailgate mount, but I don't want to relocate the backup camera or worry about the parking sensors. A bed-mount of some kind looks like the best option at this point.

Looks great! Any idea on the offset? And how far out beyond the truck do they stick out?
