Found the tiny needle in the giant hay stack finally! It’s the best of both worlds, essentially it is a 2500 frame, suspension and axels. 06 megacab 1500 4x4 5.7 8 lug, the only difference between the 1500 and 2500 is one extra leaf spring, o and the 1500 badge, also insurance is cheaper than a 2500. One owner, every service and maintenance was completed on time every time with records and all at same dealer since new, no rust at all, 113121 on clock, spotless interior, nothing special, it’s insanely hard to find a completely stock untuned old man owned one owner truck that actually took very good care of it. No ticks on start up not even for a second, no ticks at operating temp, just a very quiet Hemi. I’ve been going nuts looking for trucks the past couple weeks, geez when did it get so hard to find decent trucks??? Never had a problem when I was young. Anyway, the wife is happy so then I’m happy. I’ll get better pics when I get home today.

Congrats you did find a nice truck, post some bigger pics
Thanks, I’ve been looking high and low for something decent with no rust and has all maintenance records since first service.
I will take better pics, that one was a quick one at the lot. When I get off work I’ll get some good pics up.

Good deal! Any rust? I don't think the pre VVT Hemi's had near the problems that the newer ones do so I would expect to get another 150-200K out of that one with reasonable maintenance intervals.
No, no rust at all:). Yeah this older gentleman that traded it in took really good care of it as I will also, so I hope I can get another 100k+. I was trying to stay away from the newer gens because of the issues, and they have too many gadgets for me. I can only fix so much lol.

Congrats!! I love my 06 Mega, mine is a 2500. If you don’t mind me asking, what did you pick it up for?

Bought mine in Idaho, $17,3xx out the door ($2k down) with 84,7 on the clock.

The recession DECIMATED the used car market. People who usually trade in every 3-4 years couldn't afford to, so they kept what they had. Now that the economy has turned and people are finally trading in the used vehicles coming onto the market are very high mileage and beat to pieces. The few nice ones that are around usually command very high prices because people selling them know they've got a jewel.

I spent, no joke, six months looking at trucks before I finally stumbled upon mine.

I don’t think I got hosed but it was at the top end of market value at 14k, otd was 12,2xx and 113xx miles, paid in full. Can’t stand payments, if I can’t buy it with cash then I don’t need it ya know.

Nothing wrong mechanically at all, so not to bad I guess.

From what I’ve read, the only real difference between the 15 mega and 25 hemi is one leaf spring and tow hooks also the badge. That’s all the differences I could find, some say they are tuned different but that’s not a definitive answer, but not much else. If you know of any please share cause it’s actually bothering me why they even call it a 1500?

Edit: And the tow ratting is a little lower so I guess I just answered my own question lol.

Nice truck, congrats! With the long wheel base and softer springs my Mega has the smoothest ride of any Dogde truck I've ever owned.

Only because the tow/ cargo rate is lower than the 2500. I don’t know if it is turned different. I did test drive a 1500 Mega so I do know the ride is a little nicer than my 2500; but I do think mine rides nicer than the newer F250s and 2500 Silverado we have on site. Is the drivetrain in your rig the same as mine?? If so, sounds like it would be pretty easy to make your truck a 2500......lol. Again, it’s a nice rig you got!

What tranny is in yours? I have the regular 545.
Yeah I’ve still been actively searching for differences but no more then what was mentioned already so I haven’t a clue...lol. Thank you, it is way better than my 02, two totally different trucks. I like the two tone paint jobs, looked at a few Qcsb’s with that but they were expensive garbage though.

i know this is old .. I saw this post awhile ago and it helped with my deciding factor when i bought my 08 mega cab, so thank you.. BUT my truck def does not ride smoooth.. like at all.. i was at the gas station one day and a 03-05 quad cab cummins was next to me.. so i started to peak at the rear suspension.. exact same leaf pack setup thats on my truck.. 4 leafs and an overload.. this truck rides soooo rough.. and there is i guess like 20k on the rear shocks... it could be that but i highly doubt it.. this summer im chopping the rear over loads since i didnt buy the truck for anything other than the large cab..
