Just received a UConnect update for my 2018 Big Horn with the 8.4 screen (no navigation.) The update took about 25 minutes to download.

When it was done it said to find out what was in the update to press the Assist button in the Apps section. I did that but it (apparently) wanted me to sign up for some kind of service. I declined.

I tried to find the software version my system is now running but was unsuccessful. How can I learn what software version my truck is currently running?

What did I get in my update?

Also, the message "Software Update Downloading" and the progress bar was burned into my screen for at least 10 minutes afterwards. I could see it underneath the usual 8.4 display. It was fading away the longer I used the radio/settings after the download.

Just bought my 2018 Big Horn Saturday evening. Scared the crap out of me when the update occured and I suffered from a faux burn-in for about 20 minutes afterwards. Just suddenly disappeared and worked fine since. Not sure what the update was for, exactly.

Congratulations on the new ride.

Yes, there were some worrisome minutes there. For about a minute the whole screen was kind of a dot matrix made up of whitish-gray dots with words and numbers superimposed underneath. Then the contents of the "Software Update Downloading" reduced in intensity and kind of fell into the background of the usual screen.

Had it come down for me, also. I experienced the screen burn-in look for a while, also. First words that came to mind were "Uh-oh." Went away, though. Only thing I've really noticed is the audio sounds different from both XM and Car Play. Less treble and more bass.

I got the update as well i noticed the park sensor sounds are different now.

I think some of the display themes are different. Can't say for sure though because I switched mine to Theme #5 the first week I got my truck back in June and I haven't looked at them since, except for today.

My screen was super bright with burn in too. Nice to know it will eventually go away.. I managed to fix it before when it did this but forgot how.

I emailed UConnect customer support with some questions.

Got my update today for my 8.4 Nav, non Apline. Not too much looks different. I also noticed a increase in bass and lack of treble. Throw me all off. I had to play around with the audio settings and amp/sub settings to get it back to how I like it.

Anyone notice any other changes?

Hey all, sorry to just bust in as a newbie here, but I have searched and searched for answers and came up with nothing. If anyone has an answer or solution to the audio issue on the most recent update (all bass, sounds muffled and like complete crap ) I would be forever grateful. I have tried every reset procedure I could conjure up with google with no success and had some minor progress with disconnecting the negative battery terminal which in turn was a total no go when the uconnect fully rebooted and "caught up". It really hits my OCD button when I can't figure stuff like this out. Hope to hear some good news.

Got a over the air update tonight and I swear the radio sounds like the equalizer settings are different even though they show to be the same.

Can you decline to install the update or is it forced?

Crap, I hope not. I just went through a bunch of speaker mods and fine tuned the frequency settings, including subwoofer settings.

Yes, the same thing happened to me. Uconnect software update pushed down Sept 4th. The morning of Sept 5th my radio sounds like crap, very flat, all bass, very muffled, like someone is talking with their hand over their mouth. I hope someone at FCA follows these forums and gets the software team to write another update to correct this issue.

Not sure but I think it will keep popping up intermittently until you gave in. I can't even listen to it right now because it annoys me so bad. Good thing I just put two 14" magnaflows on my truck the other day...otherwise I wouldn't have anything good to listen to.

OK, here's what I've found out. To see the software version you need to enter the dealer service menu.

To enter the dealer service menu you put the key in the accessory position, truck is not running, and simultaneously hold down the driver temperature control UP and DOWN buttons as well as holding down the Front Defrost button.

Then you tap on System Information > Radio Part Information

Scroll down to see everything.

I'm running software version: 18.20.2e

I'm running EQ version 3.4

I presume EQ version refers to the equalizer software. If so, this update SUCKS. I had modified the stock 6 speaker system with Polk dash speakers with 4 ohm resistors inline, Pioneer 6"X9" front door speakers, and a powered 8" subwoofer box. It sounded great! Just awesome.

Now it's way overly bass heavy, almost no treble. It's muddy and muffled sounding. I just did the 4 ohm resistors in the dash speakers last weekend and now I'm considering taking them out!

I've now got the Bass turned down to -3 and the Treble turned up to +4 (before update was at Bass +2 and Treble 0)

If someone that hasn't gotten the update could go into their truck's dealer service menu and report back what version of EQ you are running I would really appreciate it.

They've got to change this back to what it was before. It ruined my stereo.
