I'm looking to install an Overhead Console into my 2015 Ram 1500 Tradesman. There is no existing console there. Is there a wiring harness I can get that is plug and play?

I just pulled the headliner down on my 17 Tradesman to do another mod, and there was no console wires I assume a15 would be the same. You can check the green connector behind the driver's side dash end cap. To see what wires you have.

OK, so I just pulled my left cover to look. 9 going in and 2 coming out :-(

So either it would be be nice if someone could make and sell us a harness or we'll need to track down a salvage donor. Unfortunately there are no late model recycling yards for hundreds of miles from me.

As stated unfortunately if your truck does not have the overhead console from the factory the wiring will not be present. You can install the overhead console and bracket but you will need to run the correct wiring in order for the map lights to work. The overhead console also holds the compass module which displays the compass heading on your EVIC plus displays the compass heading on the RA2 5.0" radio that comes standard on trucks with the overhead console. If you wanted this function to work you would need to add the correct wiring for the compass module plus enable the proper codes in the BCM in order for it to work. There are consoles you can purchase on Ebay and other places with the bracket/console (without the compass module attached) and a mopar wiring kit that can be used to run power to the map lights.

Thanks, I'll have to weight this decision as having a console for lights only seems kind of weak. I spoke with Mpgrimm2 and his opinion was that having Homelink was a plus. So as I have the '18 bypass harness on order from Deereguy to go with the Alfaobd, I think I'll just bide my time till a complete donor comes around.
Thanks

My truck came with the RA2 radio so fortunately I already had the overhead console with the compass module, I then installed overhead console with Homelink and it works perfectly because those codes are already enabled in my truck. The harness is actually glued to the headliner and not available separately. We have successfully installed the wiring out of a donor headliner and enabled the codes to get the compass working. In many cases the dealer could not activate the compass and Homelink codes in the trucks originally quipped with the RA1 non console radio. Now that we have the alpha tool I am really hoping someone gives this a try by either finding a donar harness or having M2mods possibly make one.

What year did they first come with LEDs or is it just a bulb swap to upgrade?

I see everyone linking the console the pigtails etc. but what about the harness that plugs into the modules? The homelink, the sliding window etc?

From the factory the overhead gets powered from the roof harness which is part of the headliner. If you are adding a homelink module most people tap into a ignition power and ground as thats all that is needed for it to operate. Its my understanding that from the factory the homelink is always powered and the 3rd wire works with the remote keyless entry so that no one can reach in and press a button to open your garage unless the truck is unlocked first.

I guess I am just confused. I can buy the power harness you linked earlier, but that doesn't get me all the individual plugs for the items like the homelink, compass, back window slide, etc. It's not just one connector in the actual console, they all have unique connections.

I guess I am just trying to find where the actual harness for all the items can be found, or if anyone knows what the connectors are so I can make my own plug and play harness.
