I am curious those whom own a some what newer 6.7L.
Have you removed this air intake (Plastic/Foam) obstruction or have you left it in?
I personally believe it serves a general purpose (Foam)---> Absorbs and kinda holds the oil residue from the CCV & keeps it from coating the turbo.
The plastic piece I believe is only there to hold the Foam in place.
I personally will leave mine in place and once a year remove the piece and wash it in Dawn/Hot water and Air Dry and reinstall.
I have read about the Foam coming loose and not playing very well with the turbo.
This is something to always keep in mind!
If I only had plans on keeping my 6.7L for 3-5 years I wouldn't even care - I would just drive it.
But my intentions are keeping my 6.7L till paid off and many years past that moment.
Thus the reason for my question: Long Term Preventive Maintenance!
I know removing the piece does Nothing for Performance only a slight sound increase from inside the cab.
Anyway: I was curious if anyone else had removed this unit or left it in place.
If you had removed it? What was your thinking with the removal?
