Did you guys see how bad reviews are for Jasper remanufactured engines?? Just Google Jasper engine reviews, website called Consumer Affairs has tons of Jasper reviews and almost all of them are horror stories ...

Anyone heard any feedback about Jasper remanufactured engines?

Back in the mid 90's, I used a Jasper SBC 350 as a starting point for the engine build for the truck I had at the time. At that time, they offered a mild "performance" option. I was able to spec the internals, bore, and heads. Local machine shop was way over priced, and it was cheaper to use Jasper rather than having my block machined and sourcing the parts myself.

I did have one issue, which I believe was due to their assembly/install of the heads. The rocker arm on the #6 exhaust valve was not adjusted correctly, and it bent the push rod when I fired the engine for the first time. I should have double checked the rockers, but I was in a hurry to get it installed.

Anyway, at that time at least, their customer service was top notch. It only took one phone call, and they had a whole new head shipped out.

After the head replacement, the engine ran great, and was trouble free until I sold it, almost 100K miles later.

Unless their quality and/or customer service has severely declined, I would not hesitate to use one of their engines again if needed.

I'm going to come to Jasper Engine's defense, here. The main plant is 6 miles down the road from me.

I had one in an '89 Merc Cougar that I had years ago. Great car. Engine went pop. Took car to Jasper Engines. They did everything. Drove just fine until I sold the car.

Jasper Engine and Transmission, from now on, JET, is a fairly large company. Fleet of tractor-trailers, corporate jets, etc. Always expanding.

All those US Postal vehicles, Jasper engines in those. NASCAR 4 speed trannys, a lot of them are Jasper. Harley approached JET about manufacturing motorcycle engines for the. JET declined. Not really their thing.

If you read it on the internet, it has to be true. If you've hung around this forum, you're convinced all 5.7s eat cams, all dealership service is crap. Bad news travels fast. JET is a thoroughly modern, cutting edge manufacturer. Did you catch the upgraded pistons in the vid? And yes, we southern Indiana Hoosiers are cheerful, and polite (most of , that is!)

If JET ever went public, and sold stock, I'd jump on the chance to buy their stock.

Anything built by man is going to turn out a crap item here and there. Jasper is no different but like anything, the internet amplifies negativity more than positivity.

That being said, one of my good friends owns and runs a indy repair shop and has for years used Jasper engines in his engine change jobs and had a overall good opinion of them. He said they would get the once in a blue moon bad rebuild but it was nothing at a higher rate than the other rebuild/remanufacture parts he gets from the auto parts store. His only complaint is that Jasper pricing has gone up enough to not be as competitive when pricing a engine swap with their engines versus finding a low mileage salvage engine for the swap.

Curious if Jasper sells their modified parts? Like the improved pistons shown in this video.

We have used at least 4 jasper engines in our fleet at work, and that’s just the trucks in my region. We have had no issues with them.

Are there any other companies who offer crate engines and does anyone know if there is a company or an option to rebuild the current engine you have instead of buying a reman crate engine? I guess you could always go to an engine builder, I’ve seen a few online who build high horsepower hemis.

I think it is more a modern engine thing as opposed to a Jasper thing. It used to be so easy to put an engine in a car, now it practically takes a degree in mechanics.

This.

Ive rebuilt small engines no problem but a modern engine Im not sure Id want to touch. Nor is it probably even worth it, simply because places like Jasper exist.

Just like how its more expensive to buy a rebuilt brake caliper, but I dont blink an eye doing so because actually rebuilding a caliper takes more time than the savings are worth.

So... nobody really worries that there are 51 reviews for Jasper, and they got 1.5 stars on this site: https://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/jasper-engines-and-transmissions.html

Makes me really think about buying their engine, there are some horror stories there.

It's possible that those reviews are fake... but i can't think of anyone who would really directly benefit from writing so many bad reviews.

Dude, that and others like it are ******** websites for people to vent it the rare instance something goes to **** or feelings were hurt.

People buy many things throughout their lives, when it works, that's what is expected and the normal reaction is to not run out and let everybody know. When you get a lemon, the normal reaction is burn the village down letting everybody know. All you have to do is look at all the one post wonders here who only join to vent, have their tirade and then leave. Where were they for years when everything was hunky dory?

Sounds like you are already gun shy of Jasper. May want to spend the extra coin and get a MOPAR reman.

Cost of a Mopar crate versus jasper is what? And btw, Mopar crates are the best? Seams like they did a pretty good job and ******* up both our engines Kap.

What about the engine builders who make the big power hemis? I follow one up in NY called EMPerformance and they post pictures of gen III hemis torn down everyday. Would having them go through your engine and replacing broken parts with updated be about the same with hopefully more reliability? I would shy from a Mopar crate engine because of the possibility of the same parts failing again if they aren’t updated?

Screw Mopar crate engine ... They'll give me same garbage as they're putting in at the factory... So I roll the dice

How about Extreme power engines? I couldn't find reviews on them

Theres nothing to be learned from the second kick of a mule.

I seriously doubt my truck engine is ever going to go bad, but if it did, I'd be looking at a Jasper real hard.

Their pistons look like they'd stand up to boost a lot better than the OEM ones.
