Just picked up a new to me 17 Ram crew cab Limited. Love the truck but everytime I put gas the nozzle gets stuck, I mean really stuck. Like two dogs stuck if you know what I mean. I've seen some threads on google but never saw a real fix. Dealer claims they never heard of this. I spent the first time 20 minutes getting that thing loose. Is this a California pump thing? I am thinking that lip inside the filler neck is grabbing the nozzle and thought about grinding it down. I really don't want to deal with that if there is a better solution.

I have this problem occasionally, yes it’s a California environmentally friendly BS nozzle. I fill up at Chevron and I hardly ever have a problem. Although it is hard to angle the nozzle in to where you don’t rub it on the paint. Maybe If enough people complained they’d have a TSB for it.

The problem is the gas nozzle that has the black boot that seals to the filler neck.
I’ve never had a problem putting gas in my truck. We don’t have those black boots at our statins here either. I think those boots are for fume collection???

There is a revised filler pipe, 68448220AA. I ordered one and it should arrive tomorrow. I am installing it myself, going to the dealer is too much stress.

What's the differences from the old part? Does it change the angle? I haven't had mine get stuck, but I did notice the boot is causing scuff marks in the paint cause it is at such a sharp angle.

Yes, the new part changes the angle. I have only had my Ram since September and it bothers me every time I fill up. It's like no other vehicle I have ever had. I have never gotten a nozzle stuck but I never push the nozzle all the way in only because there is so little clearance.
Benny at AllMoparParts.com looked it up for me. The original part on my truck is 68192065AA. In the few months I have had my Ram, that number superceded to 68400788AA and finally now to 68448220AA.
If I can figure out how to post pics, I'll take pics. It's cold up here in NW Wisconsin, not sure if I'll brave the cold soon.

Are you in California? And what stations do you fill up at? I’m in California and I’ve had this happen maybe 3 times since I bought my truck a little over a year ago. But maybe chevron uses a different setup. I hardly ever go somewhere else.

Same here with my 2018 1500 Tradesman. Got stuck so bad a couple times I about drove off to yank it out. I dread every time I have to fill up and never had a problem with my old F150. Haven't yet contacted the dealer about it but interesting to see there's an updated part. I may just do it myself, but will call the dealer first now that I know a part exists. Love the truck otherwise, except for the rear brake lines being too close to the tires, making installing snow chains shaky...

I'm going to take mine to the dealer this week or next for this problem. It got stuck so bad last time that it literally ripped the rivets out of the plastic liner. No way am I going to continue with this BS

It is more common in Ca. New "quite" clean air, EPA change. So many people sued stations and the State that they just recently allowed the stations to go back to the non vapor recovery guns. The PC Ca Socialist vapor recovery, child safe, gender neutral nozzles were found to be the cause of stuck nozzle complaints. Our local Chevron station never changed his and we have never had one catch in either of the Ram trucks.

Ill have to check wih the dealer to and see if they'll warranty the superseded part. I doubt they will though since there is technically nothing wrong with the current part. But it looks like it's only $50 it'd be worth that not to damage the paint worse that it already has been.
