Here's what's going on, I have a 2018 2500 6.4L trade. My tpms sensors that came with the truck are in my aftermarket wheels with 35's I picked up a used set of oem 20's. They didn't have the sensors in them. I ran them for about 3 months before buying new tires and adding oem sensors. Within 2 weeks I think ~100-150 miles of running without sensors the service tpms system message came up. I've gone about 35-40 miles and the new sensors haven't been "learned" yet. My question is if I unhooked the battery would it reset the system and maybe they would be learned by the system? Or is there a inexpensive tool that allows you to program the sensors in. I'd like to avoid having to go to the dealer each time I changed my wheels if they won't relearn themselves.

Go to your local Americas Tires, they should have the tool to reset them and also the tpms sensors if needed, i paid 60 or $70 OTD to add an extra last week.

I only have small garages or the dealer in my area. I'd have to travel an hour and a half to find a big chain tire place. If I have to go to the dealer to have them programmed in this time I will but I'm looking for alternative way rather than going to the dealer or even a garage every fall and spring. If my truck is a stubborn one where it just won't do it automatically I'm willing to get a inexpensive tpms tool to program them each time.

My TPMS stopped working this week. All 4 tires are blank on the screen. Dont know why this would happen.

I did just order the obdlink mx+ and the security bypass harness ( 2 week wait before I get it) and will get the alphaobd program also so I can adjust the tpms threshold. Anyone know off hand if this program will allow you to program tpms sensors in? I asked in the alphaobd thread but didn't want to get to far off topic in that thread

How many days has it been? Could be a glitch. I know I've seen people talking about something similar but I haven't been on the forums in months so I'm a bit behind on everything that's going on

They’re SUPPOSED to learn automatically. You can manually program them individually with the alfa, but you need the sensor ID off of each one. The only way to get that is to have them in hand, or read them through the tire with a TPM-RKE analyzer.

A battery pull/forced reset of the modules in your truck may get you squared away and would be an easy first step.

M² Mods.

Maybe they are the wrong frequency or batteries are flat.

They are the correct frequency. It would be extremely odd for all four to be flat. This afternoon when it's gets back into the double digits I'm going to disconnect the battery to see if that changes anything. Then go from there.

I bought a set of OEM 17" steelies, with the OEM goodyears and TPMSs in them from some random dude on FB Marketplace. They came off his 2015 Ram 1500. I'm using them as my winter wheels/tires. It took no intervention on my part for my 2017 Ram 1500 to recognize the TPMS in them. All it took was a mile or 3 of driving and my truck sync'd right up with them.

Aftermarket sensors that could also be used for applications other then FCA would likely need an appropriate hand-held computer to get them working. I've been down that road trying to get A/M sensors to work on a Honda. Never got them to work and this was with a busy tire shop selling me the sensors and trying to get them to work.

These are oem sensors. I just don’t know if my truck is having a problem learning them because I ran a couple months without sensors and I have the service tpms system message. I’m hoping that if I can reset the system clear the error message that my truck will learn the new sensors. If the battery reset doesn’t work I’ll take it to the dealer an see if they can read the sensors. If they can’t then they must be bad. Which would suck.

^ That would be weird.

I know those steelies/TPMSs I bought sat unused for almost 3yrs before I bought them. I was afraid they wouldn't work or the batteries would be dead in them. They still worked.

I have know idea what the life span is on the sensors. But the way fca makes changes every couple of years there really is no way that the batteries could be bad already. I bought the most current pn sensors for my 2018.

You would think or at least hope the batteries would be good for 10yrs or so. As you've probably read, the TPMS sensors/system changed in 2015, so 2015-current should be the same.

If they still won't sync up for you, I think the only way to know what's going on at this point is to plug in a OBDII scanner that reads TPMS system codes to see what's going on with the system

Yeah I found that out in 2015 when I bought a 2015 2500 tradesmans. These are what I bought 68249197AA. I know I looked at them when I got them to make sure they were the correct ones. I know I took a pic of them so I would have it just Incase and of course cant find it on my phone

I disconnected the battery for a few minutes today and nothing changed. Didn't have time to actually drive it tho.

Been about a week.

So after watching a few things on YouTube it sounds like for whatever reason you may need to have your rf hub reflashed. I believe that's what I need to have done. I think not having sensors mine went to "sleep".
