I did this mod a couple weeks ago using the Geno's kit. Didn't last more then a few days before I pulled it out. Restricted the air flow in my Mega too much. Pretty much had to run the fan wide open to get any decent air flow out of it. Not sure if the newer trucks have a better fan but it didn't work well in my 2016.
I might try a make a higher flow filter (something like a metal mesh you find in a stove top vent) just to keep the big stuff out but maintain they air flow?

I have a 2018 Express I just purchased. So my truck should have the filter? Or is it only higher models such as the Big Horn?

I will look anyway, but had to ask. :p
My 17 express already had the filter.

No kidding, On my 2015 very little difference! I also tested it with a air flow meter ! Curious if maybe your fan is a little weaker for some reason or crude on the coil ?I will do a air flow test again soon with the old CAF. No CAF and a New CAF and pay close attention

Cabin filters are designed to work this way. I put a filter into a car that wasn't designed for a cabin filter and flow wasn't reduced.

For everyone that's done this mod, remember to check your filter. I just replaced mine after about 12 months and damn it was filthy!!!! I just installed one of the Fram filters with carbon and baking soda.

What is the Fram Filter model number w Carbon/Baking Soda ? 2015 Ram

Looks like it wasn't pitch white to start with.

Oh yes 100% white when it was new.
I really did not expect to see so much black after 15k km...

Are you sure there isn‘t any piece of plastic etc.... in the cabin filter area as the filter should be evenly coloured with dust etc....

WOW good to know! Thanks.

I wonder why you guys have only one part of the cabin filter used??
Out of 3 new cabin filters you can make a new one for free .....LOL.....

Guys, need your help.

Just did my mod today (with bruises and cuts on both hands....) with a boxcutter.....(2012 Sport)

Anyhow, maybe an advise from one of you.
The filter door cover fits perfectly and also seals the filter opening, BUT, I tried and pushed as much as I could, I am unable to latch the door on both sides. It simply doesn't snap in.

I checked for the littel plastic hooks on both sides of the filter housing and they are there.

Is it possible that they are maybe a little bit too long, and that I need to rasp off a bit of the plastic latches from the filter door?

Anyone had a similar issue?
