Is this being corrected? From what I've read the bulletin says there isn't a fix yet. But I've also read that the torque values will be checked and if OK they will weld the nuts on?

Any info? At least with this video you can mark the nuts and check to see if they are moving.

if they weld the nuts, then you will be unable to center the steering wheel if it ever goes out of " adjustment " or if you lift the truck etc... just my .02 - cheers!
They only weld 1 of the 2 nuts. It would be the one on the left in the video pic.
That being said, most lift kits require you to cut the tabs off inside the tube.
I wouldn’t allow them to weld that nut on.

Agreed. There is an adjustment there for a reason. If the fix is welding, I won't allow it. That's a bandaid and not a real fix.

IMO, the real fix is just simply making sure the damn nuts are tight. I adjusted my steering wheel 15k miles ago when I leveled my truck, put my big boy pants on when I tightened the nuts and they havnt come loose yet. No locktite at all.

Unless Im missing something, its pretty much like any other nut on the truck. Tighten it properly and it will be fine.

I'll hold out for a fix, not going to let them weld mine. Honestly just check it yourself and torque it. When I put my level kit on last year I noticed mine were not particularly tight. I just adjusted it and torqued it down and it's been fine ever since.

I would guess the fix is probably going to be pretty simple....weld a "tang" onto each end of the center link that overhangs the end enough to interfere with the hex of the nut so that it wont back off.

They should probably have red loctite on the threads from the factory anyway but it looks like they didnt.

When I put my lift on mine were crazy loose and the truck (2018) had 4,000 miles. When I adjusted my wheel after the lift I used blue locktite and cranked them down. That was 24,000 miles ago and as of last week they are still tight.

FCA-RAM should be ashamed. This problem has been around for several years. It is not a common assembly problem for all trucks. "Welding" the jam nuts is a cheap bag of ********* quick fix. Will not allow a adjustment design to be welded. It is easy to keep an eye on the part, as it is accessible. Had mine checked by my front end tech at 1000 miles. Said they were tight and probably torqued correctly. Both jam nuts are marked for reference.

Yea, Im not so sure there really even is a “problem” persay, I think the nuts just are not getting tightened down properly.

Meh, Im not so sure there really is a problem with the design at all. Maybe the nuts are just not getting tightened down properly at factory?

The “fix” in my mind would simply be tightening the nuts down properly.

I think you are right. My hope is that having the 2500 and up trucks out of that horrible Mexico assembly plant. We will see less of the this type of ignorance.

I really think they’re using the term “welded” incorrectly. I think they mean they want the nut tight and touching. As in there basically on piece cause there so tight. I can’t see them welding a nut you’d never be able to adjust it

Crawl under truck. Tighten it up. Get a thin pain pen or some tq stripe and draw a line. If it moves you’ll know. I’m under my truck every 5-8k miles anyways.

No the do mean Weld, they would weld only one of the 2 nuts, this would still allow it to be adjusted but I still wouldn’t allow them to pull that crap on my truck.
I also agree there most likely isn’t a problem at all except they aren’t torqued correctly from the factory. I can tell you mine were barely more than hand tight from the factory. When I installed my lift, I was expecting a fight to break loose those huge nuts, I put the wrench on and the weight of the wrench was enough to loosen them.

****edit*** I re-read the recall and it states weld the nuts, with an “s” so I guess they weld them both. What a crap solution.

Did your truck have a draw a line mark from the factory?
