Looks really good and clean.
What is that "red" part called?
Does it come with the winch?

Red part is a fair lead mount, I believe.

Hey guys. I'm new to this forum. I just installed a winch behind my 2015 ram 1500 bighorn bumper. Got the idea from a ram rebel winch mount on YouTube. Thought I'd share some pics

Does this alter the way the bumper sits at all? I imagine it pushes it forward by 1/4 inch or so.

Curious to know what materials you used and how you cut the bumper. Ive wanted to do this for a long time, 1st one ive seen on a ‘13+ and a chrome bumper. Your setup is pretty much exactly what im looking for.

Nice job BTW.

It does push the bumper forward a little. You can see it from the side where the bumper meets the fender. Other than that it's still under that plastic upper bumper piece.

Thanks! I used a 8" channel and 4"X 1/4" flat bar to extend the fairlead mount. I wouldn't trust the stock bumper to just bolt the fairlead to. To cut the bumper I used a 1-1/2" hole saw to drill 2 holes, then just cut between them with a cutting wheel, then sanded the edges smooth. 1-1/2 is more than enough so my winch line will never touch it. Probably could've got away with 1-1/4" but oh well. Haven't tested it out yet but it's tied into the 6 frame rail bolts and the 4 tow hook bolts. I don't think itll go anywhere.

Hi Dantheman,
I would be interested in one of your custom hidden winch mounts for my 2016 1500 4x4 Big Horn. I just bought the truck, my 1998 1500 was just getting to be to much work. Please let me know if you’re still making these?
Thanks,
Andy

Any chance you have more photos or drawings of your design??

Do you happen to have a picture of what that looks like?

Has anyone considered making a slight modification and instead of sticking a rope out the front, sticking a 2" receiver?

I really like the idea of having a winch, and could have definitely used it in the past, but I'm not too keen on having a nice winch mounted 24/7 and the associated 60-90 extra pounds hanging off the front.

I'd rather run some heavy gauge wire and just pop in the winch on a receiver plate when needed. This would also give me the flexibility to run it off the back should I need to. Lastly, I can store it high and dry in my bed's tool box when not needed and thus not exposing it to the daily nasty.

I've see some front hitches, but they're all disgusting... hanging out from under the bumper and thus restricting ground clearance and just looking awful.

I imagine this wouldn't be to terribly difficult as you could just line up the tray with the opening and telescope some 2" out.

Thoughts?

It’s doable for sure. I have a custom front receiver on my 2004 ram 1500 with a 12500lb winch. It was nice to have the option to run it in the back, but when you’re stuck it sucks to lug the 100lb winch to the back lol. I found it was a pain to take it on and off and it took up space in the box. (Didn’t fit in my tool box with the receiver mount) also had to lock it up in the box so it wouldn’t go missing. so for the most part it was just left hanging off the front anyway, that’s why I did the hidden winch this time. I also like it being discreet and it’s tucked up high enough that it doesn’t get too dirty.
It would be cool to have a receiver, just curious if you’d have the pin on the outside or have to crawl under to put the hitch pin in? Pin on the outside would probably be 3” of tube sticking out.
