To all the people bashing the Morimoto xb headlights for their hyper flash issue. This is the message I received. Not only are they fixing the issue they are going the extra mile. They could have just sent resistors or a separate harness and said “good luck” instead they are sending completely new restyled housings with the hyper-flash did built in. Not only that they are shipping them via air freight instead of sea freight for free which is big money. Again not only did they resolve the issue, they went above and beyond to make up for it. I wouldn’t necessarily call that “above and beyond”. They are simply exchanging a defective, prematurely released product that had limited testing for one that works like it’s supposed to. I wouldn’t expect anything less out of ANY company.

It is a complete product with a bug that could have been fixed with a very cheap wire harness. Sending 2 whole new completely refreshed housings by air is definitely far above and beyond. Their solution is costing them way more money than it has to. What else could you possibly call it lol. If it was opt7 they’d just say “you did something wrong” and not replace the product. Knowing from experience.

So if I am reading that right along with what you said we are going to get a brand new set of lights. Are we then expected to return the old one's?

Certainly an interesting way to implement the fix.

I’m unsure if the old ones are getting sent back or not. They haven’t asked for any deposit or any type of credit card information for security until they get the old ones back so they may just say keep them

This feels like it could be for just you and not the other 50. I haven't gotten any sort of notification and I also haven't been in touch with TRS.

Did you have other issues too besides the known two?

No, but I bought them from the retro shop who forwarded me to Matt from TRS and we have been talking 1 on 1 for a few weeks now. It could be worth contacting TRS to complain about yours. The way he made it sound is everyone is getting a new set. After all the squeaky wheel gets greased.

Now, THAT would be above and beyond. The very thought of sending out a Frankenstein harness to make them work while everybody else is going to get corrected units should have never even been an idea. The expedited air shipping is the least they could do, since everyone else is apparently having theirs air shipped now. Glad they are taking care of you, and hopefully @Arth and the others, too.

Um I think we are all squeaky at this point considering.

Well their original fix was everyone who ordered the lights and didn’t get the early batch was going to get the wire harness to fix the issue INCLUDED to plug into the headlamps themselves. Not already built in. So no I’d say still falls under above and beyond. They already had their solution and went back to the drawing board and came of with something better. Again something they did not have to do.

They are made in a third world country, and I'm sure their cost is very low, and selling them for $1300 they can afford to fix their mistake. They messed up, and are sending new lights. They can afford to do that.
