The power converter is only rated at 150 watts max. It should reset automatically after the overload is removed, just check the owners manual if you have one. Also check what fuse goes to it in your owners manual or on the fuse box cover.

I believe it's F38 which is a 30amp FFM fuse.

What is the power usage of your air compressor?

If the listed wattage is higher than 150, obviously you cant use it.

Some devices dont list wattage though, but if not, it should list the current draw in amps.

To calculate watts, multiply amps x volts.

In this case, volts = 120, so for example:

If your compressor draws 5 amps, then
5 x 120 = 600 watts. Way too much

Use a little algebra and work that equation backwards

150 watts (max allowable) divided by 120 volts = 1.25 amps max allowable current.

If you plug in something that draws more than 1.25 amps of current, the fuse will blow and protect you from burning down your truck.

learned something new here.
Thank you Ken226
I never thought the power plug would power much, so I never tried it.

Not much time went into it, i type fast even on my android. Maybe 30 seconds.

And plugging a compressor into the in-dash inverter, would be on the milder side of things ive seen.

Sadly, i didnt find it even remotely unrealistic.

I watched a drunk guy get his dirtbike stuck 10ft up in a tree once, hanging from a branch. He hit the tree so hard it knocked his flip-flops off!

I've got to side with Ken on the this one, I had to go back and re-read the "compressor" post to catch the "No, phone." part and I too have seen people do far stupider stuff! Glad you got it fixed though.

I missed the "no, phone" as well.

I must have seen it, yet somehow the air compressor part was funny enough that i missed the last 2 words.

A coworker was in a company truck, on an overnight trip to pick up a machine, and decide to sleep in the truck so he could pocket the per diem.

It was winter. He knew it would get kinda cold, so he planned for that in advance.

He got out of the truck in time, but the electric blanket / harbor freight inverter combo burned the truck completely down.

As far as I know, there is only one fuse, the #38. There is an internal breaker that self resets after an overheat/overload. I think that was the confusion on there being a second fuse.

I also have the same problem with my 2016 Ram3500 I bought a new inverter, checked theF38 fuse and it still does not work is there any information that anyone else might know about this? When I turn my headlights on the little light comes on, on the bottom right of the inverter, so somewhere it is getting power just not to plug in part.

The inverter module is located under the passenger seat cushion. It provides a total of 400 watts of
power. The A/C outlet is mounted in the right hand side of the instrument panel center and in the back of
the center floor console. The inverter module provides A/C power for user accessories. The inverter
converts the 12 Volt DC from the battery system to a 115 Volt AC output.
OPERATION
OPERATION
The AC power outlet receives 12 volts from the Power distribution Center (PDC) and passes it as an
enable signal to the inverter module. The inverter module also receives 12 volts via the PDC and inverts
this to a 115 volt AC output (220 volt for BUX models). The enable signal received from the power
outlet enables the inverter to convert the received voltage and pass it to the power outlet to power
external devices.
