We have a 2018 1500 Crew Sport with tail gate backup camera system that show up on the 8.4 radio screen. I'm trying to find out if the OEM third brake light camera system that's on the 2018 2500 and up will plug and play on a 2018 1500?

No it is not plug and play. The Cargo Cam was not an option on the 1500's. You will need to install the correct wiring and enable the correct codes in the BCM with the alfa tool in order for it to work plus since your truck is a 2018 you will need to purchase security bypass harness from M2mods to activate the codes. I have done it to my 1500. There are aftermarket kits you can buy but I wanted the factory look and function. Either way it will require a lot more than just plugging it in and it's more than most people want to take on just to have the Cargo Cam but it can be done. f60d0f74887f5440454419a446f175bf.jpgc71763665c8085302adf594f6d83a4ea.jpg

Thank you for the options and we would want to do the same as you've done with the OEM. Would you please give me the part numbers for what all I'll need to install the cargo camera system in our truck?

Unfortunately it's not a harness you can just go and buy. It is incorporated into the other harnesses in the truck. I had my actual jumper harness made by M2mods who is vendor on this forum but I am not sure if they are still making them. You can contact them in the vendor section to ask. You need to drop the headliner down on the drivers side in order to be able to install the jumper harness. The harness runs to your drivers side C pillar for the power ground and LIN bus connection and then from there to the actual radio connector to pin the harness to the radio. The only part I used that was actually something you would buy is the OEM Cargo Cam itself. You also need to enable the codes in the BCM. Every code for every Chrysler vehicle is already in your BCM but the dealer can only enable what is allowed in your particular Vin#. So long story short the code is in your BCM but the dealer cannot even see it. This is where you need the alfa tool. This is an app you can purchase from the Google play store for $49 and download it to an android device, they also have a windows version. You will also need to purchase a bluetooth OBD adaptor in order connect to your truck. I reccomend the OBD Link MX by Scan Tool. I reccomend you look into the alfa OBD thread. The tool is extremely easy to use and you can enable pretty much any option you want. These are some pictures of the connectors you need to pin the wires to and pictures of the actual harness I installed. One is the jumper to connect the Cargo Cam brake light to the trucks factory third brake light connector in the other picture is of the actual harness that connects to it and runs to the power, ground,LIN bus and then all the way to the radio connector. The last picture shows the radio connector after I pinned the three camera wires into it. As I was saying this takes little effort to pull off. If you are truly interested in installing the OEM cargo cam the first thing you are going to want to do is see if you can get a harness made. If you cannot you would need to source all the correct connectors and pins and build your own. fae3c25c382a72a28f84383ad6423ed7.jpg364a8d2f9fc896d9ee92846b6e7b74f3.jpg08dd81a7ccc7e914e0e738fab9edf5a3.jpg58301096719c8be6eafd4ea514649324.jpg0a1e688968b19a70bfb5196b4f331e6d.jpg

Yes the aftermarket setup may be another option. I personally don't care for the way they make there harness but if M2mods is no longer making the harness and he's not capable of making his own it may be his only option.

Anyone know if DeereGuy has stopped making harnesses? I was talking to him before Christmas and he stopped responding
