I called my dealer and gave them the radio serial number and they ask for the VIN for the radio and I told them it's only been in my truck so they ask for my trucks vin and I gave it to them then they gave me an unlock code. I just want to make sure that it would be right before I take it out and put it in my Dad's 2018 Tradesman. My truck came with the 5" touchscreen, the 5" uconnect radios don't have unlock codes like the 8.4s do they?
The unlock code will be the same for the radio no matter what truck it's placed in if that is your concern...they ask for your VIN to enter it into a theft/anti-theft database to get the unlock code back from it.

My radio is brand new when I installed it into my truck I didn't have to enter an unlock code. It is a UAQ 8.4 I just didn't know if they were pulling the unlock code for my 5" factory radio or the unlock for the uaq

The unlock code will be for the radio with the serial number you gave them.

does anyone know what the purple wire does? is it just the 911 assist? i have a radio from a jeep and the purple cable doesnt fit
As mentioned. Post a picture so we know what you're referring to.

Here's a picture of the back of the ram UAQ radio...
From right to left....

Purple = cellular antenna
White = FM antenna
Mustard = Sat/xm (alt GPS signal)
Pink = GPS
Multi pin = testing?
Red = ??a33647af055f56f8509c35eb564f199c.jpg

does it not latch or just doesn't go on?pretty much universal on fakara connector colors.some times the locking tabs break but it still should slide on.i've ran a uaq out of a jeep compass with no problem.has to be a obstruction somewhere.i don't think you get a 911 error code on the new radios and you can't use guardian on a vehicle that didn't come with it so you really don't need the cell connection in your case.

Update for everyone regarding the brand new 2018 8.4" UAQ radio I installed into my 17' Ram 2500 6.7 Tradesman. Upon install I noticed that the navigation would read the distance between turns in kilometers and when it read aloud the speed limit it would say kilometers instead of MPH & miles. But the speed limit sign on the navigation screen would show MPH. Under the "Units" sub menu located in the radio settings I only had distance and it was checked "US" but if you went to "Custom" it was checked km and if I were to check miles it would uncheck itself and quickly re-check km. I enabled (Speed unit CSM) with the Alpha app and it was automatically checked in km/h. Again I could not successfully check MPH without it unchecking and rechecking the km/h. At this point the speed limit sign on the navigation was even SHOWING kilometers. I tried resetting the radio and unhooking both batteries. Nothing worked. Odd thing was with ignition on and truck not running the navigation speed limit settings and navigation distance to destination would show MPH and miles but as soon as I would start the truck it would jump to metric. I used the Alpha OBD app and my OBD link mx and disabled/removed "Speed Unit CSM" AND "Distance Unit CSM". Now the Units sub menu under settings on the radio is gone and the speed limit settings, speed limit warning, speed limit sign, and distance between turns/to destination is all working properly in US. Long post but just in case anyone runs into this issue this was my fix. It has been 24 hours and all still works as it should. 83fcf9c25751770a3c30496c6a206dd6.jpg1bae0f4abd69767b271e64ea809cec17.jpgf14807270bc9b27e321a9bcad9d2efd2.jpg

And these are the sort of little oddities, tips and tricks that these forums are so invaluable for. Thank you for the update and info!

First off did you purchase your UAQ new or used? If it was a used unit the donor may have had trial subscription versions of Sirius Satellite Radio 1 year, Travel Link 5 years and Traffic Plus 5 years, all from the donor vehicle "in service" date. If you purchased your radio new, I have no information as to how that works.
Try calling Sirius and ask for help without telling them you swapped radios and giving them no CC information. If they send it a signal and get it working, good. But one way or another they are going to read you a script and try to sell you something for double what you can't find it for if you look for a deal.

Just a suggestion for everyone with all this SiriusXM talk...since the major purpose of this radio upgrade is Android Auto and Apple Car Play, it makes sense to go with a streaming version of SiriusXM and just use the app through either of those services. I had streaming for my office and a subscription for my old radio, and now I am able to consolidate down and save the money. I may be wrong but I think the streaming subscription is cheaper than the equivalent plan for the radio.

Wasn't just directing that at you...your post just reminded me what I planned on doing once my renewal was up on the truck subscription now that I upgraded the radio.

I understand man makes sense I agree with what your saying. It can get pretty pricey.
