The bank don't need to know!!! I mean technically they're basically the same truck aside from the fuel they drink....right. I need to figure out a switch panel for this thing. That's the 1 thing I don't do well, wiring, that ***** for the birds

Haha right they would definitely know because I’d be asking for a loan for a 19 4Runner TRD PRO :emotions33:.. Best decision I made for aux switches was buying the oem replacement one I have now, yes wiring it with all the relays was a headache.

Dude, the new pros are ****, hell alot of the new offroad built factory models coming out from the big makers are legit....and cost legit too.

Tacomapros sells prewired switch kits I'm looking to avoid the headache.

I'd love a full console interior. Stop spending my money, every time you do something I'm like oh ****, that's a good idea.....

Lol.. took me having this truck for almost 3 years to finally pull the trigger on buying the full console, hefty investment but feels like a new truck inside. I just get these ideas and have very little self control. Next just may cut a giant hole in the camper and build a flip pac or pop up. Just sounds like a good idea at the moment.

I know that struggle. My girl constantly looks at me like I'm nuts. I always have something coming for the truck.

Now a custom made pop up type camper would be something I'd love to see. I'm gonna be making a trailer to camp out of, how are those icon coils handling that extra weight you have loaded in the back of that thing.

The back end handles like a dream now with the icon set up especially after revalving the shocks.
The coils by themselves made a huge improvement in every day driving, fully loaded they were still a huge improvement over stock, no more sag and less energy transfer side to side. They were also a tad springy on the rebound end without the shocks slowing them down.

Making a cut list to price everything out to see what it’ll cost me in material. I’ve always like the off-road trailers especially with a roof top tent on them, have everything all in one so not constantly lugging around all the extra weight on the daily driver. Have to start a thread when you get going on it.

Yea, I don't wanna sell these bilstein coils short, but they don't like extra weight much. Similar to stock the truck sags a bit for my liking. I also think the 5100s are a bit small to really control the rear end, but for now they work.

I'm thinking I need to get one of those old M1101 trailers and just go to town. Storing the trailer is my only issue...

New shim stack and seals for the King Coilovers.
Here are some pictures of what to expect. Process is pretty straightforward once you get them apart. Hardest part is getting the coil compressed enough to pull out the bottom plate.
Unthread top plate and push down on the cap till you see the retailer ring and remove. pull the shaft up and out, be sure not to lose the wiper seal.

That's awesome dude, what kind of spring compressor are those? Any standard set will fit on the springs or are this special for King coilovers.

Standard, rented from autozone. They barely fit between the coils, thought I was going to have to modify them to work.

Did you go and fully revalve them or was this a service interval?

Completely new compression and rebound shim stacks. Didn’t touch the compression adjuster stack.

When I spoke with the guys over at KING I told them I wanted it softer and the beginning rate of travel, mid rate was already perfect and I needed it to be much stiffer at before full compression. Also needed more rebound resistance.

The issues I was having were that washboard roads wouldn’t really smooth out till above 45ish mph, at about 60 the truck would feel like it was skating across and not tracking properly. Those damn razor ruts were violent and any speed. For the unforeseen big hits such as washouts I was bottoming out to often, can see where I taco’d the washer under the bump stop. On the rebound side there was way to much preload on the spring (from having them cranked to keep my tires from rubbing) and it would pogo up on the rebound cycle from mid to full compression.

This is the mad science they came up with.

When it comes to reading that valving stack I've got no ideas wtf im looking at! May as well be an automatic transmission torn apart in front of me lol. They are progressive correct?? It doesn't look like you have excessive preload on them all things considered for the height you have them at. Sounds like they weren't too much fun to deal with running hard. Hopefully that witchcraft they sent you works it all out.

It literally is witchcraft lol! I’m no expert by any means when it comes to valving. I know the basic concept of how they work, pretty much the amount of resistance it takes for the oil to travel from one side of the piston to the other at a given rate of force, other than that it’s gibberish to me. I think they specify it as a flutter stack??

Just from my personal experience with a variety of name brand shocks on various types of vehicles in the past I know what they are really capable of when tuned properly. Even though I may call it a violent or harsh ride it really wasn’t when you consider that almost no other shock out there would be able to stand up let alone shine at the abuse these were designed to take. Being able to absorb the impacts that these types of shocks do really is amazing.

I found this on the Tacoma forum, it’s worth a read to help understand what is actually happening in there. After the first time I read it I couldn’t remember what planet I was on lol.

Lol right! I was talking to one of the guys on my crew that does a ton of off-road racing, pits and preps race trucks about the issues I was having and man the amount of knowledge some these guys have is unreal. Needless to say everything he said went right over my head which is why I just went straight to King for the new shim stacks.

It's like when women talk makeup and shoes.....just take them right to the store. Same concept right?
