Fuel filter frequency?

It has been 16,500 miles and 824 gallons of fuel since last fuel filter change. I'm very remote and not near a dealer. Can any experts who have actually tested these filters and really studied the frequency of needed changes please comment on how bad it would be for me to go another few thousand miles?

What does you fuel filter minder say? Your truck will tell you when it’s time.

You can order them and install them yourself, it's real easy. With that said the factory spec'd them at 15K mile change intervals. I am sure they built in a good margin on that as well but don't abuse it.

I watched a YouTube video and it looked like you needed a special tool to get in there and quite a messy job. Maybe I should do it myself....

I've done it a couple times. It's easy. The filter in the engine compartment can be a bear to get the cover off the first time (they put it on tight at the factory) but a socket, extension, and swivel takes care of that. You will probably spill a little fuel but nothing too bad.

It's fine. I've had oil analysis done and it backs it up. Oil is still good to go after 15K.

I do a lot of towing, but you'd think the 15k interval takes that into account. Why else do people buy diesel?

Only way to know for sure is to get an oil analysis. Most on hear use Blackstone.
