Anyone have any problems with rust spots on a 2016? I have spoken with Ram Customer Care and they are willing to replace my bumper but want me to pay to have it repainted($600.00) I filed a claim and submitted pictures to their digital imaging department who declined warranty based on outside influences. When I opened a claim Ram Customer Care contacted my dealership and my service advisor and service manager both told them that this is not right and needs to be fixed under warranty. The truck was less than 2 years old and was under 36,000 miles at the time of the claim. I have tried to go up the ladder of command hoping someone would warranty the work and all I accomplished was being treated rudely and unprofessionally by the customer service department. I don't feel that a truck that is $65,000.00 and less than 2 years old at the time this all started should be rusting. I have included pictures of the bumper any help or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Live on a gravel road, or travel on them much? That looks like the underside of my rear bumper on the ends from my 2013 before it was totaled, but that was because previous owner had not installed mud flaps and lived on gravel roads.

Something seems very wrong there, I had two sports with painted bumpers and traded them both in at around 5-6 years old and neither one had a single rock chip in the bumpers, let alone anything like you have going on. Of course lots of variables here, but the first one especially saw a lot of bad conditions very often and still didn't have any issues.

Nope don't live on a gravel road. I actually live in a 400 home suburban subdivision with concrete roads and the majority of driving is from the suburbs to the city. It's definitely something wrong with the front bumper. I have a few other chips on the truck in different places but those have remained in the primer grey color.

when your area gets snow do they just salt the roads, or do the spread cinder? That bumper looks like it has been pelted repeatedly.

Salt, but again I have 2 chips on the hood and a nice gouge in the rear bumper from my boat trailer and those spots have no rust from the salted roads? So why just the bumper rust?

Yeah definitely something very wrong there. They dump salt here like they have to get rid of it, when it's not needed and lots of it.

I have the same exact problem and have gotten the cold shoulder from everyone I have talked to. i completely understand that rock chips happen, its the fact that they are chipping to bare metal and rusting. i have been complaining to my dealer about this since 15,000 miles, they haven't wanted to do anything about it, not even put my complaint in writing.

If it were me I would pull it off and have it sandblasted then take it over to you local LINE-X dealer and have it sprayed to match the body color and be done with it.

Anybody who looks at is going to blame the conditions you drive it in and not the bumper itself. The chrome ones are not much better. My truck is a 2017 and after two winters and a whopping 16,000 miles I have seen some rust pitting on mine which ****** me off because I wax the bumpers and keep my truck pretty clean. My neighbors painted front bumper on his 2014 is rusted to **** and requires a whole new bumper but he doesn't seem to care too much.

Ram should replace it when it was painted could of been a problem with the production line or the material used you should not pay one penny

If the fog lights/grille/headlights/rest of front end aren’t all chipped up from damage and just the bumper is looking like this then I’d have to agree it was a badly prepped/painted bumper and is RAM’s fault.

I am having the exact same problem. Mines a 2016 Laramie Longhorn 3500 coming up on 40,000 miles. I live in an area with snow, but none of my other vehicles have and damage anything like this, so its not cinders, sand or salt.
