With all the knowledge here I'm hoping someone can help. I have a 2016 RAM 1500 Express with 5.7L Hemi. The OEM radio was the 5.0 Uconnect touchscreen. I have replaced it with one of the Tesla style radios from Phoenix. I have used AlphaOBD to change all kinds of things, DRL, Fog Light Dropout, etc. I upgraded to the 7" evic cluster and added the OEM trailer brake control module. With the addition of the Tesla radio I lost the ability to have access to the trailer tow settings that were available in the 5.0 Uconnect radio. Some 7" evic screens have the "vehicle settings" menu available and these are the ones that came with the OEM RA1 3.0" radio that did not have access to the settings menu in the radio. Hence the availablity of the menu in the evic. Can this settings menu be added/activated in the evic using AlphaOBD? Or by any other means? Or do I have to look for a 7" evic cluster that came from a vehicle that had the RA1 radio originally? Will that even work? Thanks for any hep.

To the best of my knowledge the 7" EVIC was never available in a truck with a 3.0 RA1 radio. There is a setting in the BCM to determine which radio you have but I haven't seen it with the alfa tool. I know it's there because I saw mine when I was having codes enabled at the dealer a few years ago and had them change mine from the RA2 to the RA4 and didn't notice any difference. The trucks are programmed to show the info on the screen depending on what radio you have from what I have seen in the past. That being said even if you changed your code to the RA1 radio it doesn't necessarily mean it will show up on your 7" EVIC. It may not be programmed to show it since in was never offered in that configuration. You may also lose other options that show up on your screen now by changing the code to the RA1.

I agree with what you are saying. I do know I have seen You tube videos that show the "vehicle settings" menu in the 7" evic and the truck had the Tesla style radio. I have emailed that guy with no response.

This is what I know about swapping the 7" evic with the RA1 radio. The base cluster w/ the RA1 controls everything. When you swap in the 7" cluster you loose the ability to change a lot of stuff because those are controlled by the RA2/3/4 radios. You options are to either upgrade to the RA2/3/4 or aftermarket w/idatalink.

The 7" was never a option with the RA1, but the RA2 and RA3 were and option with the base cluster.

I have upgraded to a Tesla Style radio. There are at least two videos online that show the vehicle settings menu on the 7" evic. One guy has a Tesla radio and I think he started with the RA1. The other started with a RA1, upgraded to an RA4 and then the 7" evic so I'm trying to figure out what I need to do to get that menu. I'm guessing the truck has to think you have the RA1 radio originally to get it on the evic? Grasping at straws is what I'm doing. Phoenix, where I got the tesla radio, has been no help.

The only thing you could try (that I can think of), is to install an RA1 radio into your truck with the original 3” cluster, and see if it will automatically pick up on it by switching the settings to being controlled with the steering wheel controls. Then swap back in the 7” cluster and see if it picks up on that, then reinstall the tesla radio.

I know for a fact that the dealer should be able to change your BCM settings to the RA1. My only concern might be that it may automatically turn off other things available on the RA2 such as compass heading ect. I would think the setting should be somewhere in the alfa tool but I have used it extensively and never seen it. The 7" cluster was available in the Express/Tradesman in 2013 only. It was completely removed as an option for the Express/Tradesman in 2014. I'm pretty sure all those trucks had the RA2 radio as part of the package.

Take a screen shot of the options for uploading. I don't have alphaobd in front of me

Did you select upload faults and status log>body_chrysler_info?

Key Fobik issues here too:

I am running into issues as well with sequence error. I emailed a debug log to alfaobd yesterday. I am hoping to hear back soon

Make sure you connect. Then, click the battery icon, before you upload the BCM. The battery icon forces Alfa to read the BCM.

I had the same problem and forum member gapi suggested the same thing and it worked.

Worth a try :)

We've programmed several Highline fobs with the current alfa version with no issues. It seems to be the standard fobs that people are having problems with.
