Did u have to go thru the activation request thing

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

When I purchased my Alfa I purchased it through the APK. I’m sure Alex will send you a activation code. Also did you instal the apk over the google play store version? Would it let you do that?

Or did you just deleted Alfa and reinstall

Just downloaded the Android AlphaOBD and will try to activate a factory trailer control i installed. Can someone please give me a brief tutorial on how to download my original config before i try to change things. I did see where there are three trailer CSM's that need to be changed from "No" to "Yes" Is this all that is needed to get the trailer control to appear on my 8.4 inch screen?

COPIED from beginning of thread.

If you go to the very beginning of this thread you will find write ups and info on most of the changes and tips for using Alpha. Ghost Ram and a couple other guys have done a great job putting this thread together.

"To upload your System ID information (BCM) go to the "Tools" icon in the upper right corner. From there select "Upload to Google Drive", it will ask you to link to Google Drive. Link your Google Drive to Alfa. Select "Upload to Google Drive" and "Upload Faults and Status Log". Then select "Body_Chrysler_Info". Name the file to upload whatever you wish. Done! Now you can go to your Google Drive and read the system info a little easier.

For viewing the information directly on the app, go to the bottom and select the battery icon once a connection has been made. Then select Read System ID. It should start populating below. It should start populating below. Form what I have seen the Alfa programming tool keeps a record by date of all changes in the BCM from time of first connection. Only make changes you are sure of.
There are quite a few setting in the AlfaOBD software that are just not for us Ram owners. What you will find in Alfa are code settings for most FCA vehicles. If it makes sense and if another Ram has it from factory, then chances are you can set it. You must also keep in mind not only code settings will get you what you want, you will also need the proper hardware installed. Alfa is not magical!!!"

About 3 weeks ago I used my alfa that I hadn't used in months and messed with some settings to get my OEM projector headlights with OEM harness swap to work and I guess it caused the little red light to start flashing on the rear view mirror.
I didn't notice it right away, but i guess I did something on alfaobd and it caused that.

Does anyone know what the little red flashing light on your rear view mirror does?
It is the little sensor that detects the autodim mirror, but I guess it has a red led in there too.

Thanks!

The sensor for the Auto Dim is in the front in the mirror glass itself and there is another on the back of the mirror housing. Neither of them should flash for any reason. There is a Red/Green light between the Assist and 911 buttons. It will flash red if there is a problem with the mirror. The only time I have seen one flash red was when the 911 system wasn't functioning correctly or the 911 override plug was not used in a RA3 or RA4 radio upgrade. I'm not sure if it will flash for other reasons as well. Basically it's telling you there's a problem within the system.

I decided to disable the fog light dropout feature this week. Played with it last night, and noticed that the low beams stay on as well. So when I turn the high beams on, I still have low, and fog lights on. I feel like this might be too much drain on the electrical system with that many non-LED bulbs lit up on the front of the truck. Is that just how the dropout feature works, or is there another option to let the low beams shut off but leave the fogs on?

Do you have the quad headlights? If so, I believe that's how they work from the factory.

If we convert from quads to something like the ModifyStreet '19 look lights, should we be setting Alfa to drop the low beam when the high beam is enabled?

Currently my setup keeps the low enabled when I switch to high beams.

This I don't know, but surely one of the experts will.

@Ghost_RAM. If you want. Link this in the first couple of posts and as new updates come out. I will continue to add all the APKs Incase any one wants to back up the Alfa version they are running.
I was able to download the files but they would not install? Went through the install process but couldn't complete. Am I doing something wrong or is there a manual way to install? Using android version on my phone.

I have projectors on the low beams, but without HIDs. High is standard reflectors. I'm not sure what constitutes "quad headlights" but I keep hearing about them.

When the fog light dropout is enabled, the fog lights will shut off when the high beams are on. If it’s disabled, the fog lights will stay on when you turn the high beams on. The low beams are supposed to stay on with the high beams for quad and projector headlights regardless of the fog light dropout feature. The BCM will protect itself if it senses an overload on the light circuits.

I guess I didn't pay attention to what the low beams did before. I know on most vehicles, the low beams switch off, so I just guessed that would happen on this as well. I will turn fog light dropout back on tonight, and see what the low beams do.

I honestly can’t think of any vehicles off hand that have separate bulbs for low and high beams that the low beam shuts off and only the highs stay lit. I’m sure someone will name a few. On our trucks, if you’re only running highs with no lows, you would have no lighting for distance or down low close to the road.

Austen,
Awesome!!! The last item was not obvious to me as it wasn't near the other "csm" selections. I've changed all the items as you directed and I have the trailer on my screen and in the little window in the gauge panel. Thank you so much. This saved me a trip to the dealer and the dealer charges to do the same thing. This site and the people such as yourself make it a great place to share information and help people like myself.
Looking over the multitude of selections in AlphaOBD, there are a number of them that indicate my truck has the option but it's not activated. I'm not sure it's telling me the truth but it will be interested to explore some of the options carefully so I don't brick the system.

This is true but if you added quads to a 09-12 SLT or below they came with duals and with out the sales code added (I believe it could be added) only the highs would be on

Yup, true. This is only because a dual truck is programmed specifically for a single bulb that functions as both high and low beam. Once quads are swapped in, and the programming is not corrected for them, the quads will not be operating as designed.
