Hey all, new to these forums so let me know if I posted in the wrong area.

Ultimately, I have a '15 1500 and over the course of about 3 weeks I have noticed a strange rattle, or bounce, under the front end while going over small bumps on the road. Specifically right under my feet is where it feels like.

I took it to the dealership and they had it all day trying to find it, they said they tightened bolts here and there, and finally came to the conclusion that it was some bracket under some manifold that was bouncing and vibrating after going over bumps.

Well a week later and I still feel it, although it isn't as strong, it is definitely still there.

So my main question would be, is this just a normal feeling with this truck, and I didn't notice it before? If it's not, where do I begin my search, and what should I look out for?

Thank you.

Did they try tightening your cab mount bolts?

If you have running boards, check the bolts for those brackets as well.

failing all of the above, is there a well regarded suspension shop you can take it to for a look? unfortunately, quite often dealer mechanics are good general mechanics but aren't specialists.

I'm unsure if they tried the cab mount bolts, but they said "every bolt they could find" so I would hope so.

And I do have running boards, that's something I would have never thought about, I'll check that one tonight. Thank you!

Taking it elsewhere was definitely going to be my next step after I get under and give it a look myself. Would you happen to know, if I took it somewhere else, if I could bring the dealership the receipt and have it go towards my warranty? I'm uncertain how those cases work. Thank you

Seriously, have you checked the "vibration damper" weights? There is one just under the driver section on the frame.

Wow, well thank you Mark. I actually have it going into the dealership tomorrow before work. Dropping it off there and letting them look at it again all day. I will shoot you a PM asap. Thank you.

Thank you for adding to the thread. I'm taking it back to the dealership tomorrow to hopefully have them finally see what's going on. I'll keep you and this thread updated!

Snakes is a possibility, if so, I may have to burn the truck and call it a loss.

I have a '17 BH and I've had this (or something like this) since day 1. I figured it was just the "smooth ride" suspension. My '07 was a lot tighter, but I replaced shocks and struts on that with Bilsteins.

Do you have fog lights? I actually had a noise similar to this and it was driving me kinda insane. I started checking everything. Them I happened to hit the fog light on accident. That was the noise I was hearing! Hopefully this mighttttt help?

Best of luck! Sucks to have noises like that

I've nailed mine down to the rear end, usually when my back tires go over a protruded man hole. I get, what seems, like a piece of metal bouncing/vibrating quickly. It's a pretty loud and deep sound. Makes driving without the radio on annoying. Also, I feel it in my feet as well through the truck.

Could you describe yours?

I'll definitely check it out, I would've hoped that the dealership would've checked that, but we'll find out.

Update: Received it back from the dealership for the second time. They blamed my toolbox, at first I was hesitant that that was it, but I trusted it and took the truck home. (Mind you it was there from 6:30am - 5:30pm.) I took my tools out, and then took my toolbox off. Went for a drive, and it sounded WORSE somehow, as if the weight of the toolbox helped subdue the noise/vibration. I am at a loss now as to what it may be, I will be going back to the dealership first thing tomorrow morning and hopefully, finally, getting this resolved.

Have you tried driving without the spare tire in place?

Also check the heat shield for the spare tire as well.

Possibly even the parking brake cable bouncing off the side of the frame?

I did see that parking break cable, but I couldn't imagine that causing what I'm hearing/feeling. It sounds like it has some weight to it.

I may go take the spare tire out right now and test drive it. Also, where is the heat shield for the spare tire located?

Thank you

Check your fog lights. See if they wiggle. Mine was banging over bumps. Thought for sure it was a suspension component. I searched on here and found a fix. There is a design flaw on the mount that wears away and causes it to be loose. Fix is to slip zip tie through hole to tighten. Search for instructions on here for rattle fog light.

No, mine's more like a reverberation in the front end, doesn't really make a sound. Kind of a subtle boing-oing-oing. Like I said, my last truck had Bilsteins and they were really stiff, so I kind of got used to that ride.

I may add them to this truck as well, but we're leasing right now and although we're planning to buy it out, I really don't want to sink a lot of mod $$$ into it until we know it's ours.

I had a rattle like this mainly when going over bumps and up driveways.Common in the rams.Les schwab tightened up a bolt on the trailing arm. I had checked all that but it has to be very tight they said.

Does sound like strut mount to me. Any chance you have a spacer type level kit up front?
