QSUD has way more MOLY, its cheaper and it can be found at your local Wallyworld. I haven't tried it personally but the numbers look good and I bet yer average HEMI will be quieter with the QSUD than the PUP.

For some reason PUP 5W-30 only has approximately 60 ppm molybdenum ?
The 0W-40 PUP has approximately 230 ppm of molybdenum ....this is why PUP 5W-30 doesn't make my list ,[emoji106]

Fair except if I recall PUP even in the 5W-30 has excellent wear numbers in fact I remember a couple years ago when all wondered if Ultra was worth the extra over easy to acquire platinum.

It has been my choice ever since then at least in the Ram. I use QSUD in my wife’s T&C however since the Pentastar is less picky than the Hemi.

PUP in any viscosity range is better than any PP. that is for sure.

But if i was going to try one of those two...i would try QSUD 5w30 over PUP5w30.

JMO.

The only PUP i like is 0W40. It is a nice 30W option.

-1) got the Ram boxes, huh?
0) IMO, that's not injectors, exhaust bolts, or a hemi tick; I agree that's something else
1) Personally, if I had any engine issues, I would just dump and refill. Unethical? maybe, but the oil weight is for CAFE standards. We have videos of the engineers talking about how these beasts were tested/built on 30 weights...
2) I think most folks here run the XL Royal Purple filter
3) the first number is the for the cold, the second is operating temp. Think W = winter. 5w by text book is good down to -35F. By comparison, 0w is -40F. I think you'll be alright.
4) You could contact @Nick@GotExhaust and see if he would ship to you? ([email protected])

I would never buy a hemi again. I don't know what options are out there, it may be buy a 1990's windsor and rebuild it.
Ford finally confirmed that 7.3 monster. I like my Ram, but unless they have issues with it, that pushrod beast will be my next engine.

QSUD has way more MOLY
IMO, the detergents are underrated in these conversations, because all the 'big names' around here all have stealer formulas. I want a clean engine with lots of molly. Even though there's not a lot of molly, those PUP UOA show great wear reports everytime. Clean engine = more lubrication = less wear.

I'm not familiar with the QSUD enough to pick it up over PUP. But PUP with lubegard, is a no brainer to me. At $4/qt, if money was an issue, I'd pick QSUD up tomorrow... Personally, I'm not skimming out on a couple bucks, to maintain a $35,000+ asset lol

..........

They will all do a good job at keeping the engine clean. The OCI just has to be on par with the oil of choice and its TBN.

It aint the 70’s anymore.

QSUD 5W30 is LSPI compliant so while it has more moly it has less of everything else.

PUP 5w30 has less moly but to my knowledge it has not changed the formula to be LSPI compliant (yet), the PP looks like it has changed though.

This QSUD analysis is from late 2017 but you get the idea.

Man, I'm away for a few weeks and all of a sudden this thread is deep in QSUD...I love it! My Reb rolled over 50K miles yesterday and beginning its third round of QSUD 5W-30...all is well. On my last UOA, Blackstone said I could go 11.5k miles on the OCI, but I'm sticking to 10K (easier math!). My engine, which never ticked, is smooth and quiet...it did quite well on the trip between Texas and Colorado during the July 4th holiday; I even managed 19.5 mpg at one point on the return leg.

Ron turned us on to this stuff while taking about spark plug changes. Unlike most anti-seize This anti-seize is safe on a large verity of materials.

Now i see why Ron likes it.... it has Moly in it[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
