Hey all first post. First Dodge, first Mopar. I'll have plenty of questions along the way. So far I like how easy it is to work on, though, and how cheap/available the parts are. We've always been a Ford family, but...

I got me a beater 99 2500 Laramie (petrol, not Cummins, with lots of 98 2500 body parts on it, ha!) to use for a year or so to tow my camper and stuff while I get to work on a 73 W100 (4x4 4 speed 360) that I'll be restoring to be my forever truck. This 2500 has the towing package with the controller on it so it's pretty perfect.

This truck is wonderfully ugly, and a mutant, with a salvage title, the whole deal. The various POs did all manner of unspeakable things to it. I keep finding various disconnected parts which I'll post about later. For $700 though it fit the bill, and the huge problem that made it so cheap was just the big alternator fuse, ha! Then the cat fried right away but it was only $300 out the door to replace. Oh and the holes in the roof, gonna bondo those. I'm going to rattle can the whole thing cammo before my summer trips to the Nevada desert to shoot things, burn things, and blow things up.

It's got big Dana axles, I doubt they're stock, and 17s. I think they may even be usable as a dualie. (NPG 272 on there, I know that much.) Tires all need replacing and are 265/70 17. There's no spare, so I need to acquire one. All the junk yards list 16s for this truck, and obvs I want a 17 to match properly.

I guess what I need to figure out is what the hell wheels are on there (and why?), and what can i search for to find that last wheel for the spare? Searching by year and model only lists 16 inchers. Are there other models I can search the parts listings for, can I search by specs, etc. Junkyards are best searched by make/model, so what makes/models can I search to find bolt-up replacements to use as a spare?

Oh and hey, what are the torque values for those nuts?

Anyone nearby want the cap/shell? I'd rather have a lumber rack.

I haven't seen that wheel on a Ram before. Maybe they are aftermarket.

I'll have to get some more photos of them for y'all. I have this one already, plus a couple of shots under the thing when the cat was being replaced, in case there is anything useful visible there:

They are factory ram 2500 wheels, but they are from a newer year truck. Factory axles for 99 would be Dana 60’s. I don’t think they switched to AAM axles I till sometime around 2002.
However, with the newer rims, it is possible that one of the PO’s swapped axles to the newer AAM’s.

Quick way to check would be to see if you have a CAD on the front axle. Dana axles have the CAD, early AAM’s did not.

Thanks for the replies, everyone.

Definitely they are Dana, and there is definitely a CAD.

These wheels are from the 2003-2009 RAM 2500/3500 ST base models. They use a chrome center cap as well.
