Hi everybody, first post here for me, I tried everything and cant find a solution to my problem, thought I try here because I know people here have good experience, I tried 2 shops and no solution!

I bought a 2007 dodge ram 1500 crew cab 4x4 4.7 engine, when I got it, it had suspension damage, the front diff was broken from passenger side, the truck got a level kit, not sure how many inches on it, and 35 in tires, after I installed all new parts, cv axles, control arms, sway bar links, hub bearings, used front diff. now when I drive it and at a take off the truck shakes and vibrates violently, I took a video of it and as soon as I made it back, I found out that the new front diff also broke from the same location like the old one!! please see the video, thank you in advance

With a vibration like that I would say check all the mounting bolts for the motor, tranny, diff, stuff like that. See if any of the bolts are loose or missing or maybe a bolt hole is wallowed out. I've never seen anything like that on a IFS truck, only on solid axles when there is something wrong with the track bar.

I checked all the bolts, would motor mounts do something like that ? I looked at them and the rubber seems fine, but it looks like its a little separated from the metal part of the mount, I don't want to throw parts on it until its fixed, Ill post pictures of the mounts today

I have no idea if bad motor mounts would do that but it doesn't hurt to check everything, even if it sounds obvious

Can you post some pictures from the front of the truck looking at the axle shafts and knuckles? That video makes the CV angle look crazy.

Something really odd is going on there for sure! Why is the driveshaft going from spinning to not spinning up front too? Was the front axle broken when you took the video?

What kind of leveling kit is on the truck? And about how big is it?

Edit: Just like the guy above me said, the driveshaft spinning on and off is extremely fishy.

It looks like the vibration only happened while the driveshaft was trying to start spinning catch up. I didn't know that the front driveshaft spun while in 2wd, I figured the transfer case would disconnect it from the transmission

A few have commented on the front driveshaft engaging....I’m not super familiar with the auto trans and electric shift 4x4 but it looks like the transfer case is trying to go into a automatic 4x4 mode (not the full time 4x4 or the low...but a lower lock level) either that or did someone change the ring gears? Almost like it gets out of time....[emoji848] following for sure this is me curious.

I thought the spinning was normal ? I post up some pictures tomorrow, the front axle broke on the way back after taking the video! I bought another one today for it

I'm not sure what it's got but I think it's just a level kit for the front, I'll take more pictures tomorrow

That's true, why would the front driveshaft spin at all if it was in 2wd ?? Btw, when I engage in 4x4 it dose exactly thr same thing

Your front driveshaft should spin (in sync) with your front wheels. Your ram does not have locking/unlocking hubs. It has unit hubs. The hubs spin all the time, the CV axles spin all the time, the front differential spins all the time, the front driveshaft should spin all the time.

When you put the truck in 4WD, the transfer case engages the front driveshaft, and sends power to the front wheels. When in 2WD, the front drivetrain spins freely, with no power. The fact that the driveshaft was not spinning in the beginning of the video, leads me to believe something is messed up inside the differential, or the transfer case.

In the video below, the driver has the vehicle in 2WD for the first 02:35.

How do I check my tcase ? When I bought it I had to put front diff on it because the old one was broken, probably because the previous owner had the same issues

If your diff is cracked again, it will have to be replaced, again. Leave the front driveshaft off. Video the front diff in 2WD, and video the transfer case in 4WD.

First thing I would do is verify the front and rear diffs are the same gear ratio. Not sure if/why it would matter in 2wd, but I was never a Ram tech. Just one thing to rule out.

Silly question, but you did verify there was gear oil in the front diff when you installed it, right? I only ask because I've seen guys install diff's only to see them hand grenade on the road test because they forgot to put oil in it.
