I built and ordered a 2019 Ram 1500 My must have options were 5.7 4x4 with 3.55 rear end ratio. I did the build with the salesman obviously and I noticed his build program didn’t have options available for the rear end gear ratios like when I did the build at home (3.55-3.92) so I asked why and was told and shown on the salesman’s computer that the 3.55 rear end ratio is standard for my build package. Now I picked up my truck last Thursday and immediately noticed my truck has a 3.21 not the 3.55 and asked the salesman and manager wtf happened so we replicated the build and once again their computer says a 3.55 is standard. The dealership and fca are in contact at the moment and I’m wondering if they’re going to replace and change my gear ratios (front/back) or build me another truck. What do you guys think will happen?
Agree with everyone else, haven't seen the hemi offered with 3.55's since the older 5/6 speed transmissions, and have only seen 3.55's on the v6's since the 8 speed has been out (2013). Not sure why the build site would offer that, and also a good lesson to never take the salesmans word for anything, they generally don't know very much compared to people on here, who clearly would have told you that it wasn't even an option. Maybe it was an honest mistake on his part, many times it isn't (just say whatever you have to and make the sale), but either way, they don't know squat compared to people on here and people should really stop taking their word as if it were worth anything at all!
I had a similar issue with a Windsor dealer, but mine actually forgot to add 3.92's so I got 3.21's.
Pretty sure the 3.55 is just left over from the 6 speed and their build and price just never got updated when they stopped selling it.
It's in the specs sheet the you can only get the hemi and 8 speed with 3.21 or 3.92 https://www.ramtruck.ca/documents/ramtruck/specifications/2019-ramtruck-1500ds-specifications-en.pdf
The difference between 3.55 and 3.21 isn't really noticeable, especially with the gearing in the 8 speed. And towing wise you only lose 550lbs between 3.21 and 3.92.
They definitely had the 3.55 when the 8 speed started shipping. I drove one to see how it compared it was still way better than the 5/6 speed with 3.55 but 3.92 was way better of course. I don’t know what year they stopped doing 3.55 but I think 4th gens had them up until around 2018. The 2019 they must have decided to scrap it.
I could see it being around at the early stages of the 8 speed possibly, but I'm not finding anything in newer years nor have I in the past. Not only searching last night, but my last 2 trucks were hemi/8 speed/3.92's which is hard to find in this part of the country...so I searched through thousands of trucks and never saw that gear ratio being offered, just 3.21 and 3.92 (I look up buildsheets for every truck I click on to verify gears right off the bat, so I knew weather to eliminate it or look into it more). I've certainly seen 3.55's in the 6 speed trans that I've clicked on (last night and in the past)...but never with the hemi/8 speed, I'm sure I could be wrong on this but can anyone actually show me a truck with this rare combination?
Coming back to the big picture, it really appears as though they are offering something that they really aren't, so I think it's worth finding out what the deal is here.
Haven’t checked in a long time. It was round 2012 or 2013 when I drove an 8 speed with 3.55. It might have been a transition thing.

Why not both?I got a call from the dealership manager today and was asked if $700 could fix the mix up or would I rather build/order another truck with the 3.92 because the 3.55 was not offered in 2019 and fca has the wrong information on their ordering portal and the ram website.
Why not both?

Maybe this is why the sticker said 3.55...
You'd think they would have corrected this by now, but this sounds pretty much exactly like that case.
Yeah and maybe this is what I drove. It was just a test drive I didn’t even look to buy it but wanted to try the 8 speed. I know it said it was 3.55. It was pretty decent really and I figured the 3.92 would be even better.
