It’s so cool to have the OEM bed lighting option, but I feel like it’s extremely underpowered...

Not sure if it’s possible to upgrade the bulbs if there even is any inside the casing?

Anyone who have the OEM bed lights feel like they are really weak? Is it possible to upgrade the bulbs at all maybe? Not sure if it’s a unit or LED bulbs already. Great idea but the function is inferior..

Are you talking about the the light above the rear window or something inside the bed?

You could always add aftermarket LED strips. I put these in and I love them:

Where did you get the power from for the lights?
You can tap the +12V wire going to the 7 pin trailer plug. That is constant power from the battery.
I used waterproof LED strip lights on my buddies 2500 w/8' bed. Added a fuse and safety shut-off switch also.IMG_20161016_154801759.jpg2016101695194123.jpg

I don't think so, I can see under my tonneau just fine. I mean like, what exactly you doing under there?

What is that on the left side of your bed? Looks pretty cool, like some sort tool storage. Is that something you built or purchased? Links?

TIA!

I want to know how JB1 did it that looks amazing.

And ideally, no more wire tapping. I’d prefer a battery if possible hah.

I just put them under the rails like others here posted. I wired mine directly to the existing lights, the length was perfect on each side and theres an existing hole to route the wires towards the top. I saw no need to wire in a switch since I dont mind using the dash switch when needed. I've had these installed for little over a year now.

They sell many different types of these strip lights, some are even RGB

I bought the bed light kit at the dealer and it was delivered the following day. My project for today was plugging the light cables and switch in. It was plug'n'play as far as hooking up the cable terminals; the plugs were taped back and had plugs to protect the terminals. The kit included the cable to go into the engine compartment but it wasn't needed. I don't think there are any terminals taped back in the engine compartment but I'm not totally sure. Could it be that all I need is to do is add a fuse in the fuse box? No lights yet right now.
