I would think the buyer holds the cards on this as it would be a contract situation where the terms of the contract (i.e. vehicle specs) were not met. Realistically the error falls on the MFG as they would be responsible for the order system and manufacture. My going in position would be let me know when my new truck is ready and I will return this at that time. Then consider alternatives. It may be too late in 2019 and you might end up with a 2020.

So your advice is for him to spend $3000 versus addng the oem $125 option? :hmm:

Thought the same thing when I saw that, if you're going pay that much more it should probably be on a more drastic gear swap.

It will all depend on how FCA certified the truck build combinations. If your configuration wasn't tested then your best bet is to get them to put a 3.92 in the truck

Here is my .02.
If you definitely will be towing anything in excess of 5000lbs, or putting larger tires on you want the 3.92 INSTALLED on the truck from the factory.
If your truck comes with 3.21 DON'T take the truck.
Yes you can have them change the gears but doing so you only F yourself.
You only get a dealership warranty on the gears and not MOPAR warranty.

I know because I spent months looking into all of this.
I have the lifetime warranty on my truck but if I change the gears out now I loose that and only get a few years from the dealership and that is not worth it for me.

At least for me, it wasn't for me to get the 3.55 on my 2017 with the 5.7 & 4x4.
So, if your contract states 3.55 and they deliver the truck with 3.92, keep it.
If the truck comes with 3.21 and you will be towing lots / heavy then send it back.

Agree with everyone. Not available with your configuration. If that important hope they take back and you can go from there.

Is 3.55 even available in that configuration (hemi, 4wd)?

Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk

Yes it is available, I have 3.55 in my 5.7 Hemi, Express edition Tradesman. My window sticker didn't have it mentioned and when I crawled under the truck I noticed the 3.55 sticker in the diff.

My dealer, in Ontario Canada, said "nope, it's 3.21" -- my built sheet says 3.55. it is a 3.55!

you're probably better off putting up a separate post with that question. will likely get more feedback. its pretty off topic here aside from being a rear end issue:)

My prediction - a major PITB (Pain In The Buttocks)! You may get an acknowledgment from FCA that they made a mistake (in either training or computer/site programming), but as others have stated - the 5.7 supposedly isn't available with the 3.55 regardless of configurations and trim levels/packages. Period.

Is it technically a possibility to build such a truck? ABsolutely. IN fact - I find it totally insane that the 3.55 isn't even an option with the HEMI, as it seems to be the perfect ratio. Sometimes manufacturers do really dumb things. This is one of them.

What "should" happen? The right thing to do by FCA and your dealership (since they will NOT custom build you a 3.55 truck) is to either give you a discount/partial refund as a "courtesy", or offer to buy the truck back.

Please do keep us updated!

Well I know the dealership manager isn’t too happy because the truck got hit on the passenger side fender/tire area n bedside, someone reversed out of their driveway without looking and hit me while I was doing 55km/h.

I didn’t even put 100kms on the truck yet.
The manager told me this coming Monday they will find out if they can push my reorder thru or if I have to wait for a 2020 Ram build at no xtra cost.
WHOA!!!! That stinks!

You know, I have noticed, you like to tell everyone how much you know, and talk about how much you did or spent. If you are going to be condescending then why even pose the question? So, you want to feel like "you're the man." I have known people like you, and most, I would rather have an enigma than stack-up with those types directly behind me. You, sir, are the ever elusive blue falcon, and enjoy baiting folks so you can proudly sore. I'll give you this for free; change our attitude, treat folks with respect and kindness, until it is time not to, and give more than you take. Look for ways to help others, be charitable, honorable, valiant, and honest in your dealings, and for goodness sake, if you must sore blue falcon, do it somewhere else. These men were only answering your question. If you do not like their responses, then do not be the falcon.

Just out of curiosity, what engine and trans do you have? And are you in the U.S. or Canada? And that's pretty crazy about your coworker, that must have been quite the unpleasant surprise.

I had this happen once a Durango my sister had it fixed and they couldn’t figure out why when you put into 4WD the thing would go crazy. I bought a new axle assembly from a junk yard that matched the other axle and what do you know 4WD worked great. That is the weirdest feeling when the two axles done match on gear ratio.

Do you have dial transmission (8 speed) or shifter on the column/console (6 speed)?

THAT is the question here. No one is denying the fact that you CAN get the hemi with 3.55's, just not the hemi/8 speed/3.55's. Going to have to guess he has the 6 speed, and if not then maybe we found one!

Who is this meant for?

Yeah that was super random, who is he talking to?

Dumb question..... Do you know it’s wrong based on the window sticker or have they pulled the actual vehicle build off of the vin lookup? Window stickers can actually be printed incorrectly.

On delivery day I was given a booklet of 4-5 pages with every detail/option from my build and I noticed it said 3.21 and the manager said it’s probably just a typo so I called fca customer service to verify with vin# and they said 3.21 too.

I’d see if the dealership would be willing to swap in the 3.92’s to make it as close as possible to what was ordered. JMHO

2500 6.4L Hemi 4.10's 'Off-Road'
Problem with swapping them is the 'official' approved tow rating will still be what it was for the 3.21's. Not a problem if the OP doesn't plan on towing much weight but there could be issues down the road on resale if the next owner wants to tow a 9000lb trailer and they can't legally do it
