So I really want to get in on the goodness that is the Alfaobd. I installed a factory brake controller and was just going to go to the dealer to have it "turned on" but was told it was going to be a week and cost me $107+tax. I figure for that much i can almost pay for the Alfa and the link.

I'm not completely ignorant of this kind of system. I've bought a Blue Driver in the past for using on my grand cherokee. it works well but doesn't have the ability to change anything.

I'm looking to get this stuff running before the weekend after this so I've got to get on the ball quick.

OBD link is out of stock, And there are so many versions of the MX that I'm getting confused. I want to use a USB cable so I don't have to worry about blue tooth or wifi. Is that possible with any of the MX units or all the all blue tooth? If not what are my other (in stock) options?

Or should I just use the blue tooth version of the MX? And is there anything better about the +, MX or LX

Thanks for any help!

Both MX and MX+ can be used

MX is for android and windows

MX+ is for iPhone android and windows(using stock scan tool app)

Remember Alfa can only be used on android and windows but both MX will work

I don’t know about the LX best bet would be get the MX+

The OBD link SX is usb and definitely works, but it’s also showing out of stock till the 19th. The other OBD link units are Bluetooth or WiFi only.

Lx doesn't have all protocols, like it's missing gm or something, not sure how this is confusing there are simple charts comparing them and what each one offers over the other

Unless your Android or computer does have Bluetooth (highly unlikely Android doesn't), why would you want to deal with plugging in a USB? I use the MX for the Torque pro app to monitor engine parameters for hours on end when towing, hasn't fails me yet. The MX has work great so far for AlfaOBD for me.
For the small price difference, get either the MX or MX+ vs the LX version in case you ever need to use it on other vehicles.

I'd clear those, turn truck off, open the driver's door wait a minute then go back into abs

Thanks for the help guys. Ordered the MX and just DL'd the app. FYI it will recognize my Blue Driver but won't connect. Thought I'd try and see what happens.

Hopefully you got the tire size correct on the first try and going through those steps finished the procedure. If not don't hesitate on trying again and make sure you follow those last steps

All i can say is take your time and do each step one by one just like they say and take note on what you change!

Hi all,

anyone have the correct ASCM settings to level the front end? I went into the set values and it seems it reset my settings cause the front end is to low.

I'm using the widows version of ALFAODB

thanks

You’re not flashing anything with AlfaOBD. It’s not like you’re overwriting an engine tune in the PCM. The alfa software can keep track of changes that IT has made, but another scan tool is not going to see “how many” changes the alfa has made.

3 in a row, must be a 2018 thing
my 2014 is tempermental when it is HOT and SUNNY works (fairly)reliably when NOT needed
does not matter how close the fobic is to the truck
I have held the fobic almost touching the back of the cab and it not work BUT also open the windows in one try from 1/2 block away walking towards the truck

I'm not talking about that, I saw on other forums the alfa has ability to track how many times the obd has been used to flash the ecu, and possible to reset it

The flash count itself for alfa changes I would just keep track by uploading the new file to Google drives but wondering if alfa has its own known counter

It is probably going to be lost in translation or Dev put it on back burner, I originally emailed Dev about dpf regens for diesels and got 0 response over a year ago, then like this spring/summer they figure it out and implemented it, I emailed a few times and even asked op of this thread to ask them about it since he was pretty involved with all of it but got nothing.

So quick question. Has anyone successfully used this to adjust the ASCM for ride height? There is a 'Write Suspension Height Values'.. but when I did this (I had thought I could just see the values without changing it.. I was wrong).. it set all of them to 0mm and made the truck complain about servicing the air ride immediately.... I had just had the compressor replaced and they 'reset' my ride height front and back to stock with my leveling links installed.. so now it's low in the front even with my links installed..

before I try this again and have to visit the dealer to fix it.. I thought I would ask if anyone else has done it..

Stock they were set to:
Front Left Calibrated Height: 61 mm
Front Right Calibrated Height: 61 mm
Rear Left Calibrated Height: 53 mm
Rear Right Calibrated Height: 47 mm

and now after the dealer reset it.. they are set to 50/50/60/50 which is way too low..

Figure I could put stock links back in and set the front to 80/80 and back to 55/55 and see how that works for leveling.

Where you able to set your air ride properly? where you able to get the front end to level? I've tried setting 80/80/55/55 with some success but i the front left is sagging. no matter what setting i put for the front left, i can't get it to raise more than 4 1/2" from center of fender to top of tire.

Can you be more specific to exactly what counter you’re looking for? When you say “I’m not talking about that”, do you mean not talking about an engine tune flash count, or a count of how many changes the alfa itself has made? Saying “flash the ECU” is too general, since all of the modules on the truck are technically ECUs. Which module specifically, PCM, BCM, RFH, etc.?

I just went through a body Computer and rf hub log and didn't see anything that showed a count of how many times either that module had been connected to or how many changes have been made.

@FXCLM5 could you find the post/thread on the other forum or which forum you are referring to.

Yes basically any tune from aftermarket vendors that are using obd to do a ecu engine tune or a tcm tranny tune, I believe the flash count is looked at dealers as just any obd flash counts, there are reports if they see higher then 3 then it becomes very suspicious, (warranty denial) since supposedly they are to reset the counter back to 0 after anytime they update it
