Changed the oil to QSUD 5w30 this evening. Maybe placebo effect... it does sound quieter tho. Not that it was loud before.

Let's see how she likes it for the full 10k km OCI I've set for my truck. She's got 30k km now. I like round numbers as it's easier to remember.

Geeezzzzzz... look at this rear diff.
I was going to eat dinner night before last and then I saw this video and I had to put it off for awhile because that was so GD pathetic. There's no excuse!

I am terrible at getting pictures as I get going on projects and don’t want to stop.

Tonight I drained the nasty looking tranny fluid. Removed the access plate so I could see how things looked.

Put I back together with some more of “the right stuff.” Sang some New Kids On the Block while using it as always. (If you don’t understand why you are probably too young.) use the video below to learn about them.

Filled it back up with a little over 3 quarts of Redline MTL.

It got to be late so I didn’t take it for a drive right away. Will do tomorrow.
That gear oil looks fantastic, better than that rusty looking **** in Hammers vid by a mile. That **** looked so bad (from a person that deeply cares about maint. that is)I had to put off dinner for awhile after watching it as there's no excuse for that ****.

I'm familiar with NKOTB, the backdoor boys, etc and the song but I reckon I'm too old because I never listened to that type of music even when they were popular, More of 60s,70s,80s classic rock, heavy metal type of guy.

Hair bands for the win! Oh and Mid Shift sucks....I’m so ******* tired.

Change the trans fluid in the Altima, along with filter and pan, and I can almost guarantee it has never been done. Went back with Valvoline MaxLife as it’s a little 4 banger and my heather car, so cheap is good, also poured in some Pennzoil Yellow Bottle High Mileage 10W-30 and a Fram Ultra Syn filter for the oil change. Have to replace some power steering components soon, and I will use the Valvoline Max Life as the Power steering fluid with a little bit of the stop leak stuff when I drain and bleed the system.

Those gears look really good, and look at the thickness of the casing. I really enjoy that old school durability; thanks for posting:)

So check this out, I know this car I have been the only one that ever changed the oil in it since new, so out 500 miles ago was PUP 5w30, in was a mix redline 10w30 and m1 5w20. So 500 miles it was black! I checked it by accident, I had a few spots on the driveway I thought the filter must have a leak, I can still not find any leak but that is another story. So can you think of why it would be black at 500 miles when it was never anything like this? Surely it wasn't the oil?

Here's the thing, I don't think it was. Remember those two spark plugs I took off um 500 miles ago? Well those cylinders must be firing ten times better with the new plugs, that had to release carbon into the oil like nobodies business. So the source of that leak, hopefully just the filter, showed me some really good into to have.

See that oil on the spark plug? Those cylinders must be whack. Gonna Redline s1-1 every tank and shorten the oci for a bit. Just used the QSUD I just bought today. Man, the car really likes that oil, it isn't that feel good stuff either, I mean it is whisper quiet, probably because the cylinders have been whack for a while and now they are being cleaned, but whatever the case qsud is good drink. I bet that redline/m1 did some real good hyper cleaning as well, nothing like new oil to clean up a mess in the cylinder.

Yeah, that really bothers me that toyota would let two collapased plugs go into a brand new vehicle. You see now that those cylinders are finally getting the spark they need the result is the result. I wonder how much damage was done though. We are going on a nice long trip, I want to take the truck for a lot of reasons, but I think a nice long trip would be great on her car.

And a nice long trip with Redline S1 is a great idea , keeping a steady dose of S1 while cylinders are nice and hot is an ideal situation for cleaning [emoji1360]

Yeah a nice long trip on that with some SI-1/Gumout Regane/Amsoil PI would do thoae 2 cylinders wonders. Might even want to run a tank or two of premium so it burns a bit hotter. I would bet the exhaust valves/ports are pretty carboned up...

Nice that while I'm away again (getting raw land ready for a barn and a house -- in that order, natch -- is time-consuming) my Reb's QSUD lifeblood is earning some respect here. Now that I've found a good source of ethanol-free 87-octane juice for it, I do believe my Ram is running the best it ever has...just racked up 52K miles last week.

Just west of Fort Worth ("Where the West Begins")...Walmart in Hudson Oaks, east of Weatherford, has the cornless fuel I've been feeding the Reb for the last few weeks. Great stuff!

Yeah I'd love Cornless too, but here in CA the gov would likely bring back the death penalty for anyone using it. There is a cornless gas station somewhere, but you can't put it in auto mobiles, lol. And it's a fortune. It is a crime if you pump it into your gas tank.

but as I showed it isn't that hard to take ethonal out of gas, maybe a pain to do all the time though.

Brake Fluids compared mostly motor cycle the second one is more cars but they didn't put redline in so see that on motor cycle page, as you see Redline brake fluid is dot 4 and very good, but also you can see many other oils make it to the top of the heap as well. Interesting thing about brake fluid it attracts water, so if you are using a lesser brake fluid the boiling point will go lower and lower with use because brakes get hot and you get transferance. So it snow belt, it is really important to change brake fluid every couple years and consider one with a 400+ boiling point with the correct dot for your application. Pretty sure you can use dot 3 in a dot 4 or visa versa be sure to check sometimes it says on can if it is mixable, but I don't think you should mess with dot 5 unless you have a dot 5 application. Brake fluid flush time?

Big difference from amsoil "synthetic" and dominator fluid... 410f boiling point for dominator. Doubles the cost, but maybe worth it in snow belt or someone who doesn't want to change fluid for a long time. I'm doing my friends brakes, he never did it in 17 years and he complains the brakes aren't working right, well the fluid looks like a milkshake, we will see how it turns out. Will put redline back in because I don't trust him to do it every year or two, other wise 5 dollar brake fluid would work just fine. So in general use with flushes every 2-3 years, get the cheap stuff. Maybe if you tow heavy or race, or don't want to swap fluid every three years, consider one with high boiling temp.

Amsoil Synthetic 4 368f 520 Yes 12 0.67 8.00

Amsoil Dominator 4 410f 580 Yes 12 1.34 16.05

good info from amsoils blog dot 3-4 compatibe.

I will use 5.1 when I change the Calipers, just need to get my thumbs out my a**

Changed my humidity sensor today ( Mopar 55111389AF ), my ac has been acting up lately and there was a code for the humidity sensor. So I changed it, man it was smelling like burned elecronics :D

IMG_3948.jpg

It has been ok this afternoon, so looks to be ok now...

No wright up on the humidity sensor swap, maybe I will do one, but my grammar and spelling is way of...

I hijacked the light sensor to while I were up there, here in Sweden we have to have lights on at all times.

Hade to figure out what was what, rain sensor/ light sensor. I put a piece of electrical tape on the light sensor and now I have auto lights at all times :)

^^^ You are required to have all lights on all the time or just your headlights?
2 headlight and 2 position light in the front and 2 position lights in the rear + license plate in the rear.

But there was a change few years ago to help get the fuel consumption down to just use small LEDs in the front and nothing in the rear as long as it is daylight.

That is ****** up when you are use to lights on cars, then you find a dark rear car in the evening thats not have auto night lights and the driver don't have a ******* clue that his lights don't work like they always have been working since he started driving in the 70s (auto lights on all cars here that is made for this market since the beginning of time. Before this front only DRL thing started that is in auto but not night time auto, just the front end DRLs...)

Hope you understand something
