Took my 2014 6.4 with 90K in for an oil change and asked them to listen when it's cold as it's been making some noise. Just got a call that both exhaust manifolds are leaking and need to be redone. The dealer acted stunned and said they had never seen it on the 6.4, only the 5.7 but I'm pretty sure I've read about several cases of the 6.4 on here. I have one of the older 6.4s at 5+ years so this could turn into a common thing as more of them age.

Lifetime Maxcare covers it otherwise I'd be looking at $2200 so I guess the good news is my warranty just paid for itself. Anyway, just thought I'd make a post here in case others experience the same thing.

My driver’s is leaking(80K miles). It’s not bad enough to force me to replace it yet. I’ll be going ARH headers when it is.
I don’t know why they wouldn’t expect it. It’s same parts and construction.

Interesting. I’ll be following this thread to see if others have had this issue.

So is that $2500 for new manifolds or is that what they want to do gaskets?

Not sure... they just said to "fix it". They did say it will take a couple days to get the parts but I suppose that could be the whole manifold or the gasket. I'll check when I pick it up and let you know.

Mine been doing this for a year when it’s cold. If you put in drive/reverse it’s even louder. Maybe I should take into shop while I still have warranty myself...

Such a common issue, glad warranty is working for you.

My 16 started doing it about 6 months ago, but when hot not cold. I think I am going to do as above stated & put ARH Headers on it when I get it fixed. Want to re-gear first, so hopefully it will be alright for another year.

How about you fix the problem. Many of us have the issue just out of warranty, and it costs us thousands.

Yeah, no kidding... if not for my extended warranty I'd be SOL by 5 months.

You guys don’t ******* care. I’ve been turned away more with Dodge/Chrysler then any other company. I had the notorious transmission issue and solenoid that cost me a tranny. And of course you guys didn’t do ****, always find a reason or excuse why it can’t be covered, until the federal government steps in and makes you. If I didn’t have three kids to raise, I’d run this pos into the ocean and buy me a new truck.

So i had my 14 1500 fixed for the exhaust leak. They fixed it under warranty but the bolt broke at the head and they Destroyed the head trying to remove it. They put a new head on it. So for those of you not under warranty be careful it could happen. Not sure what that head cost but i would not want to buy one because of a fucken bad Design. Those bolts should be covered life time.

If they are not broke and you plan on keeping the truck maybe its a good time to put shorty headers on. My left side started ticking just after warranty was up when i traded it in.

My 5.7 was repaired 3 times. I sold it and bought A 6.4. Supposedly the 6.4 isn’t as prone to the issue. I hope so because if this truck starts leaking I’m going to be pissed.

I'm hoping my 2014 truck falls into that same group of trucks in the "how many miles on your 6.4 hemi" thread that have well over 160,000 miles and haven't had any exhaust manifold leaks...

So, I just talked to the dealer and it sounds like I'm getting all new manifolds as opposed to just new gaskets and hardware. The problem is they got the wrong parts shipped (I know, huge surprise) that were for the 5.7 so now it's going to be next week before my truck is ready. The dealer is making it sound like this is just totally rare and that there is no widespread problem on the 6.4 engines.

It will be pretty sad if this does end to be widespread after all the problems with the exact same part on the previous 5.7 engine. With the 6.4 being relatively new I guess only time will tell. I know I have one of the older 6.4s with an in service date of March 2014. At 90K my miles aren't terribly high but probably higher than most out there. The truck is totally stock with only about 5% of the miles used for towing.

The funny thing is the noise really wasn't that bad and I could easily see people running with these being bad and not knowing (or caring). I just asked since I was in for an oil change and it had caught my attention recently on some mornings when I first started it up.
