Tomorrow marks 32 days without the PW at home. Makes me sad to be honest. Im going to try and get a loaner in Monday. Still waiting on a BCM to come in. Was supposed to be here on Tuesday.

Another payment made and no ride yet. What a deal.

I had noticed the same ticking on starts with my 6.4L engine, I suspected that the anti-drain valve on the majority of the 55,000 miles in using the Ram dealership purchased Mopar OEM oil filters exclusively may not have been so entirely anti-drain as I would have preferred. I suspected that the Mopar oil filters that I had installed would slowly drain oil back into pan overnight. Some of them I suspected actually drained much, much quicker, especially after being subjected to towing in 100 degree Fahrenheit temperatures. Easy to spot the 5 to 6 ounces increased oil level on the dip stick overnight. Figured it might be draining the oil in the oil channel above it too. Also, after removing a Mopar oil filter prior to a cold start and finding it drained of most of the oil further increased my suspicion. The 2-3 seconds of ticking on start was probably due to dry starts of a drained oil filter.

I stuck with the Mopar purchased oil filters from the Ram dealership to get it through the warranty period and just put up with the noisy starts. Kept sticking with them past the warranty period due to I purchased the 0W-40 oil at the dealership and might as well get the filter there too versus making another stop. I have recently installed Wix 57060XP oil filters, only. The oil pressure builds up to approximately 54 PSI much quicker than the Mopars did, but there's no more ticking noise. Quiet starts ever since I changed. This is on a 2016 Ram Tradesman Power Wagon 6.4L,

Best though to keep listening to the clacking of your engine starving for oil in order to meet the warranty requirements versus running a non OEM filter and having no more noisy starts. I took some thought in regards to responding to your post due to I wanted to be certain that my 2nd Wix filter fixed my noisy start issue. I haven't heard any clicking since. Die hard Mopar customers will stick with these excellent products, but some non OEM products may be worth checking into.
Good info.. thanks! This forum seems to provide some really good info. You go to the dealer (in my case) and get no substantial info....

Yes, I would like to connect with a case specialist, just don't know how to send a private message. Got my truck back after 5 days, 1 oil change, and it is still misfiring. Definitely not taking it back to the dealer I bought it from.

Hi Tpettit,
I have sent you a private message and look forward to assisting you further.

Update 3... second BCM was installed yesterday. Still getting a misfire in number 8. They think it is a module somewhere. They replaced the pcm twice and the bcm now. Still no resolution.

So no truck yet but will be getting a loaner tomorrow.

Been following the thread closely. I'm sorry to hear you're having this issue.

I wonder at this point if you could push the Lemon Law and get a new truck. Two PCMs and 2 BCMs, I think fits the bill

They are replacing the heads now. We will see where that gets us. Im not sure about the lemon law or not. I think you are right though about the parts they have replaced without it fixing the issue. Going on 40 days now without the truck.

I'm assuming based on your profile you're in PA. If so, checkout this link

https://www.attorneygeneral.gov/protect-yourself/consumer-advisories/automobile-lemon-law/

Based on what I read there, the first part about reasonable attempts to fix matches

I am, the truck is also registered and insured in PA. I do a lot of my driving though NJ though and that is where the truck is being serviced. Wonder if that matter? I will be on the phone with an attoney today and see what my options are.

I'm really sorry to hear it has come to this, but I gotta say, that at 30 days, I was feeling the same way. Fortunately in my case, replacing the harnesses and PCM fixed it. Keep us posted on this! The worse part is the truck is GREAT when there aren't any issues. Have you put thought into what you want out of it? Money back, new truck? A truck by a different manufacturer?

Sorry to hear you are still with out a truck. HD for HD. My dealer is really good about getting me loaners in the past, even if it meant make a new suv (in my case) a loaner.
I saw that my truck carries a rent plan as well with the Mopar warranty I have.

It is what it is. They are still trying to fix it, now going mechanical. Honestly i hope it works. I just want the truck back. I called the attoney to protect myself. Would rather get started now then in another 30 days.

If it does get lemoned i want another 2500. Love the truck and the interior is best in class. I would go diesel this time though.

So you truck is still running with the misfire? Just a rough idle or something? No flashing check engine light?
