I received a message today suggesting that my UCONNECT needed me to schedule an update, and the vehicle should be parked and off at the scheduled time.

Anybody else? How long does it take? Any comments about what’s being updated?

Got the message Sunday on way home from church. Parked it. Took an Uber to airport and don’t know if it updated or not. Will find out Friday.

Several thread about this already...

As it stands I think you have about a 30% chance of a successful update from what I have seen so far so good luck! Let us know how it goes.
No other info on the update other then it is version 18.11.07

Was this through USB, or OTA?

OTA. They have starting pushing it out the past week and I am seeing way more failed and bricked units then successful updates.
If you received an email it will probably try the OTA any day now. I'm not sure I would let it if you have a choice

They don't have this available as a downloadable usb update

Wow. Did you brick? Or just failure to update?

I haven't received it yet but out of everyone I have seen get it here and on the cummins forum, only 1 was successful so far.

Any idea what actually changed?

Like I said this crap should be shut down until uconnect/FCA gets off their butts and learns how to code correctly.

I have no idea. Success rate has been so low nobody has posted any noticeable changes. My guess is mostly behind the scenes patches.

I'm betting it's the over the air process that is the issue. I'm sure the code was tested in the "lab" successfully. Probably getting corrupted in the transfer process.

The first 2 or 3 steps of the process (at least when using USB) is for verifying the integrity of the incoming software.

There should be no way a corrupted download gets past step 1, unless there is no validation in place.

I picture in my mind poor version control, a bad list of radios that the update applies to and hack upon hack so that the software is universal enough to work for an ever increasing range of vehicles, models and part numbers.

I have to ask, is this update messing up any conversions with the 911 adapter? Mine shows a slight 3G connection even with the very short adapter.

I just got my email notice for the update for my 2015 today. I wonder when the update is going to try to come through.

My mom's and my sisters's 2014 GCs are probably going to get the update soon too. I will most likely be the guinea pig to make sure nothing breaks before having them update their cars.

I'm not sure I would update (if you have a choice). I saw yet another failure on the cummins forum yesterday. Thats about 5 or 6 I have seen so far. Let us know how it goes.

I've seen a few Jeeps with bricked UConnect systems or people ending up with dead batteries in the most recent wave of updates. I might end up deferring the update a few times until we have more people with successful updates.

I would rather have them post the update on the drive ucconect site and let me update manually. That was how I used to do all the updates before they started pushing OTA. The manual update just seems safer compared to the OTA.

Mine just came through this morning - UConnect was no help, they claim it is Ram Cares. It wouldn't let me defer - so I picked a time - 10:30 am when I'd be home to park the truck. At 10:20 I had stopped for milk, when I restarted the truck it made me pick a time again, and my radio was "locked". So, it is sitting in my driveway, hopefully updating. If it doesn't work, I guess I'll have to call the dealer.

As I said it wouldn't let me defer, even if I hit cancel, the schedule update stayed on the screen. I just want my Sirius......

I feel like we should all be buying cell bypass harnesses until UConnect gets their act together (which will most likely never happen)

Does the update eventually "give up" after a certain amount of time once you dont take it? (i.e. leave cell bypass connected for a couple months, remove cell bypass and never hear about the update again)

Yep, I appear to be bricked. After letting the truck sit 1 1/2 hours, I went and restarted. Radio still locked, and it wants me to schedule the update. I'm trying one more time - I scheduled it for 12:50, and I'll give it all afternoon.

Sirius and radio information shows on the screen, but no sound. Nor does the phone pairing work, nor voice commands. I called Ram Cares, but they are closed on Sunday. However, there is a auto message about the update - that you vehicle must be off and LOCKED (which I hadn't done before). So we'll see - but I have a feeling I'll be calling my dealer tomorrow. If the radio needs replacing, it needs to be on their dime, since it was Ram updating that bricked it.

U could pull battery cables off for 30 minutes give time to reset residuals. BUT other PPL more knowledgeable need to CHIME in here, cause other people have said to pull, Put Positive/Negative cables together for 5 minutes, let sit for 30 minutes and then re hook up cables... IMHO...... ((( And do not do ne thing on my say so. I have not had the U Connect complete since MY 15 ED. I have a MY 19 now with just the 4C Radio ---no nav/911, so no updates, LOL............... (I phone works well for Carplay)
