A couple other forums are saying that GDE has been shut down, until they get the green light again from the EPA.... If they ever get the green light again!! I am not a guy who cares what tune you have, believe in, or have an axe to grind with any company. With that being said, I HATE seeing this. Good company, that makes a good product, and now they limit our choices to what we can do to our trucks after we purchase them. They could care less, that all the emissions junk they put on our trucks affect the longevity of them negatively.

The EPA can ruin a man's business and his life. I would not want to be in Keith's shoes. I wish him well
The EPA interview is interesting and revealing. For me, it raises questions about what has been declared about the company and the product.

Here is the interview report:

Loose lips sink ships. Also if idiots hadn’t been “rolling coal” this likely wouldn’t be such an issue.

I’d be curious to see what happens with the recent statement from the White House about denying California the ability to set stricter policies then that of the EPA and all of this. If any of it is related at all or not idk. Just another overreach of government altogether though

Here in the smog-less midwest, 99% of the diesels have straight-pipes and big injectors, they all roll coal.
The problem was someone getting an ECU tuned and shipped to them in California, then being smog tested.

Properly tuned diesels do not burn more fuel, they burn it more efficiently. Black smoke is unburnt fuel, from a friend who tuned diesels, more fuel & more timing advance = more power & less smoke.
My Tuned TDI 2003 Jetta got 55 MPG and could do over 160 MPH, had over 150 HP and 300 FT/LBS of torque, almost twice what it came with stock. (stock was 90 HP and 150ft/LBS)
Now tuning it is more computer and less hardware.

Never heard that story. GDE tunes are not detectable at the smog station. Do you have any info that being smog tested was the "problem"?

I have a GDE tune on my 2015 1500 EcoDiesel. As we were waiting for the tuning program from GDE for the tranny, they got shut down. However, one of their engineers sent the file to my son anyway. We didn't ask why/what/who/whatever, so don't know details, however getting a tune we paid for, but the dealer flashed away was very nice.

If it was California, I have one more reason to vote for Trump in 2020, and that's an executive order he signed making it illegal for states to require more stringent air quality from cars than the federal government requires. That means Californication can't screw you over anymore. Of course, they'll sue the feds to reverse because they know better than everyone else on the planet how to be green, in spite of the science telling the world they are nuts.

There are environmentalists in the Midwest as well who see the idiots you speak of rolling coal and complain to officials. The idiots with bad tunes are ruining it for everyone wanting to delete govt emissions systems for reliability and fuel mileage. Spewing soot is the equivalent of pouring oil down the storm drain. It’s childish, destructive behavior.

If anyone here thinks “rolling coal” is cool in today’s age, you’re stupid, and I hope you’re offended.

Rant over.

Going to go with SFT. Rode in a truck that had the stage 1 and trans tune. Very nice little upgrade, turbo lag is alot better and shifts better resulting in better fuel mileage

Not a ton of power increase but substantial enough to tell an immediate difference. Shifts were smoother, turbo lag alot less, fuel mileage increase has yet to be determined by the owner.

The new tune is out now.
Has anyone tried it?
