Recently had the dodge in for a new heater core and heat exchanger. The dash is gone-but the under dash parts were ok- some cracking on the instrument mounts... but it came out in terrible condition. So I’m epoxying and fixing as best I can ( found used under dash on eBay for about $700) so would like to rescue my broken one.
Here’s my immediate concern- I disconnected the electrical and vacuum connections from the heater/ ac control. When I mated it up again the switch position on the vent select seem ‘off’. Switch won’t rotate all the way to the defrost setting. All positions except ‘ recirculate’ blow only from the defrost vents.
Any thoughts on how I can troubleshoot this? Or what could be wrong?
Thanks in advance!

Have you checked the lines behind the control again? Sounds like a line may have broken or cracked.
The switch not turning all the way to defrost is strange.

Thanks Mop. I purchased a new (used) hvac switch assembly ( due to the way the vent control switch was not turning all the way to defrost) So we’ll see what happens with that. I’ll examine my vacuum lines closely to see if I see anything amiss there.

Those vacuum lines become brittle, and crack sometimes. The electrical lines can possibly do the same thing. Rubber line is more flexible.
Keep us updated on the new switch.

I will keep you posted on the new hvac switch. I got a little sidetracked this week so I haven’t installed it yet. I want to repair the mounting attachments before I put the new switch in.
But I had my (315k miles!) transmission serviced this week and it is still in good shape!
Have a great week!

This weekend I’m replacing the fuel pump on my Ram. Going to do it by either tilting the bed or lifting the bed completely off... don’t want to drop the tank. I’ve watched a few videos but some prayers would be nice! [emoji16]
Any suggestions or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hvac control update! Finally got my crumbling dash rebuilt. Installed new HVAC switch. Works great.
I think I broke my old one when I tried to disconnect the vacuum connection by removing the white clipped on gizmo. It looks like it can be removed but the switch mechanism will be misaligned.
