Here is my steering wheel corresponding to the pics a couple posts above. Headed to the dealer to see if they can look at it and get V06 done, along with V44 and U53. Maybe I'm expecting miracles, but I have a feeling it'll be "2-3 weeks" before they can see me.

On a positive note, my order of 28 quarts of PUP 0W-40 came in from NAPA. $5.99/qt.

Dibs on your steering wheel if they say it needs to be replaced to straighten it out :)

I wouldn’t even feel comfortable driving it to the dealer. How many more left turns do you want to gamble on before the draglink pulls out of the sleeve and lose steering. That’s gotta be close to the last few threads holding that thing together.

Agreed! I’d tell the dealer they need to send a flat bed to pick it up as it’s a huge liability and danger to drive it there.

Following up on my recent post and pictures. 6-hour dealer visit and they took care of V06. Ended up disassembling and measuring...reassemble and weld. Last pic has repair order comments.

So is there an update on the V06 recall? My 2018 Ram 3500 drag link jam nuts were welded last summer as a recall fix (B.S. fix). Now I need a front end alignment, was told they need the truck half the day because they need to remove the weld, align, reweld the jam nuts. This is not acceptable! How many front end alignment rewelds before the drag link becomes brittle and breaks while towing my heavy fifth wheel? Possibly Wiping out me and other motorists.

How timely Ed. I just took it back to the stealership today. This is the third time they’ve had the truck. First time they welded it and the alignment was bad. Took it back a week later and same result. I figured I would drive it for a few months and start over. They had it all day today and couldn’t align it. I don’t know what to believe, but he seems to think he can replace everything with the brand new parts. They are supposed to call me when FCA approves this warranty fix. I’ll keep you informed.

Please keep us posted. It sure seems that welding a part that should be adjustable for the purpose of front end alignment is both temporary and cheesy. I couldn’t leave it with them today and have to make a trip on new tires with a front end out of alignment. I am not a happy Ram owner. Off topic buy Ram Had it in the shop four times before 5,000 miles due to faulty DEF module and faulty fixes. By the time it was over they replaced the DEF module, heater, pump, and a couple hard drive flashes. This went on over a three week period while traveling pulling a 41’ fifth wheel. All was covered under warranty and they covered my RV lot space rent, but the inconvenience was huge. Rant over for now, lol.

They welded both the nuts on mine. I didn't want them to do anything. But they had to in order for me to buy out the lease..

That stinks man. This whole deal is total bs.

I won't accept a repair that does not end with my steering components having the same adjustability they had before and when I purchased this truck, period.

I talked to my dealer and Ram cares on here and was fed the same BS responses. Still the current fix is to inspect and weld. They refuse to replace the part unless your current drag link fails their specs. I even asked if they would install the part of I bought it and they both said no they would not install new parts under the recall unless they seemed it necessary. So I said **** on it and bought the updated parted and fixed it myself.

Us power wagon guys have been ******** about it in this thread as well...

I had the same experience with multiple dealers. I bought the synergy drag link and asked every local dealer if they would replace it for me. They were completely unwilling. I have sent my reimbursement request in to FCA asking for only the cost of the part. We'll see what happens. There is a question in the form asking for the mechanic or establishment that performed the swap. I just put "self". I have a feeling I'm gonna get hosed. It's a BS problem and a BS fix

It truly, absolutely is and I have to assume its purely for financial reasons and not with the owners best interest in mind, or so it certainly appears.

This is a battle we shouldn't have to fight, period. It's clear as day. The part FCA installed on our trucks, day one is defective. The correct repair is to replace it with the revised part so our trucks have the same steering adjustments they had when we purchased them. That's all we want and noone has yet to show me how that logic is incorrect.

So how do we the people file a class action lawsuit. Do we need to file against the NTSB too? Aren’t they the governing body that decides whether an OEM replaces or reworks the non conformance for safety reasons??

I be curious to see the cost difference between the labor cost needed to do the removal, inspection, reinstall and welding vs the cost of the updated part and labor. I paid $130 for my part and was and hour install. I can't imagine that cost is more than what they are currently doing.

If they pay the service dept 1/3hr labor id be shocked, over them spending even $50 their cost on the 5th gen version, and $20 shipping it in, and an hr install/alinement, call it $200 all in per truck, over $40, take $160 times how ever many thousands of trucks they sold from 2013 till 2018.... the head bean counter is saying “just weld it and let the owner deal with it then”

Agreed and whoever at FCA made this decision to weld and not replace should be immediately fired. Service after the sale is very important and for us to be put in this position on 40k plus trucks and the time I've had to waste to date, just to try to get an OEM to do what everyone knows is the right thing is absurd.

Well.....amazingly I just received an email saying that my reimbursement was approved for the full cost of the synergy drag link(including taxes). I have to say, I was very skeptical, but FCA did the right thing.

I ordered from 4wheelparts.com and installed myself. I'm very pleased with FCA on this one and would urge everyone to go buy the synergy part if possible

That's the first one I've seen approved in 6 months. Everyone else has been getting denied.

I have tried two times. Even provided invoices for reimbursement and also Pic's of invoices of reimbursement from a Friend they did. Spoke with FCA reps and they said sorry.
