I live in the rainy northwest. It’s hard to keep your truck clean when it’s sunny for a day, rainy for two, sunny for 1 etc etc.

what I do is when I have been driving in the rain in a clean truck, when I get to my destination, preferably home, I hose off the entire truck. This replaces the dirty water that once dries, would leave it filthy, with clean water and if it clears up overnight you’re golden! If it dries up before you get to a hose this doesn’t work and you’re S.O.L.

I just now went for a burn to get some cold buds and it’s pouring out. So here I am in the dark and the rain hosing down the beast. I’ll thank myself in the morning!B6FF8D0E-B1D2-468F-859F-0BEA85B42376.jpeg

LOL....I thought my neighbors looked at me funny when I am drying off my truck with a leaf blower. Can't imagine their thoughts if they saw me outside at night rinsing my truck in the rain!

Regardless, this makes sense. I'll give it a try next time

When I lived in MI, we did this and added a water filter to the hose. The filter is pricey but well worth it.

One nice thing about living up here is we get really nice water from the tap. I also pampered myself and have hot water to my washing hose.

I should have also said, the filter helps eliminate water spots...

How do you think your Fire Dept always shows up with clean shiny trucks.........Yup, wash, and or rinse if there is any moisture in the air (i.e. rain or wet/damp roads) every time they come back from a call. In the spring and summer we do tend to do a rinse and dry. However, here in upstate NY once Nov 1st arrives and until April 1st (snow and salt season) we have to wash the rigs after every call.

PS, we also rinse out the wheel wells and undercarriage to get the salt off when we wash them.

Wow. Talk about First World Problems. :laughing1:

You should come to West Texas sometime when it rains. The water's so hard that your car is literally a different color even after just a 5-minute shower, not to mention that it turns all the dust into basically airbrushed mud.

IF it decides to 'just rain,' that is - usually, we receive our precipitation in the 'frozen concentrate' form (aka 'hail') and someone usually has to file an insurance claim afterward.

I live in WA state, I found easiest for me is around spring I claybar truck, quick job nothing time consuming. Then wash with Mckees car wash, then dry, look for any dust I may have missed. Then rinse truck and while wet, spray mckees hydro blue in sections and rinse, then dry entire truck. I do the undercover bed cover same way, wheels, sometimes even under hood but not engine. Turns out like glass on the paint. Then I just wash and dry truck about every 2 weeks. Whole process takes about a hour. I stopped using wax a few years back(hate wax residue) when I found out about hydro blue, I like how it coats everything, wheels, windows, trim etc. Is a super lazy way to have a nice looking vehicle and I buy the sales pack when is good deal direct, cost comes out to like 6.50 a bottle and can do about 2 vehicles. A few I sell to coworkers at $10 a bottle. I even do my 2010 Camaro SS and take to car shows and people think I waxed it. I don't have a garage just a cheap steel carport so I don't like to invest hours into detailing if I can simular results in a hour.

Get a deionized water car wash system. They are $300 - $400 for the portable units you just plug into the hose. Wash and walk away. Don't even need to dry it if you dont want to.

Use it like you want and when it gets dirty enough to bother you, send it off to get detailed by someone who does not value their time, as much as you do.

LOL after you pay a professional detailer for a complete detail job, you'll be really surprised at how much they value THEIR time-----

I would also doubt a professional detailer goes through the effort to wash a vehicle the way I do with multiple coats of a foam cannon and using multiple fresh mitts everytime.

A professional detailer would but sadly enough a lot of hacks have started to use that title.

Like a Mountainman visiting a Brothel, it's only once in awhile and nice change of pace.
Well worth the price.

Besides, if it's enough for me to clean the truck, it's nice enough to go fishing.
Got the same problem with Golf
