All - I need some help
I'm in the process of doing a major maintenance on my 1999 Larami 5.9L
Today I took the truck out to warm it up before changing the transmission fluid. When I backed it out of my garage I nearly drove it in the pond...the brakes were practically not working anymore and pressing the pedal felt like performing a leg press. The weird thing is...I had not changed the brake fluid yet or worked on the brakes at all, that was at the end of my list.
So far I had :
-changed both differential fluids
- oil & filter
- transfer case fluid
- air filter
- serpentine belt
Any idea where I could have screwed up ? The serpentine belt seems to drive an ABS component, but I checked the routing over and over again and it seems to be on snug.
I'm clueless, somebody please throw me a bone :)

sounds like you might have blown a brake line. did you check under the truck for puddles under the truck or have you check fluid level?

Check the vacuum hose on the brake booster. Seems like either the booster went bad or the hose isn't connected correctly.

Thank you. I was cruising some other Dodge forums last night and found descriptions of similar issues which pointed to this possible cause.
As it pertains to Crazzywolfie's question : no, there are no puddles or leaks whatsoever. I'll check later today and report back.

even if the booster was bad you should still have working brakes. just no power so you would just have to press on them harder.

make sure to look for leaks on rear tires also. may have a leaking wheel cylinder.

Vacuum line was indeed disconnected. Must have happened while installing some of the spark plugs just in front of the driver's position. Thank you all for your help !
