Neither does the gas engine, in fact it gets worse gas mileage than the diesel.
You may be spending slightly less per gallon but you'll not be getting as many miles per gallon either. Couple that with the depreciation hit (twice, assuming you bought the eco new) and it'll take you literally decades to recoup the difference.
I could give a **** if you just want a new truck I'm just pointing out that the idea that you're going to be saving money on gas is ludicrous.

I think he used the new math they teach in California. It works inside the state but not outside the state.

I just got a 2019 !500 with the hemi plus a 3.92 rear with a tow package. I have been really impressed with mileage. Getting 21/22 mpg combined. I reset the trip odometer at every refill....using 89 octane....my last trip said 278 miles with an average 22.8mpg. Most of that driving was on cruise control set at 67mph. Haven't towed yet.....only about 1000 miles on truck. Really impressed with mileage.
Well sorry to pop your balloon but that count will decrease as time goes on

Well to be honest, I never said I was going to save money until you brought it up. I said I was sick of diesel prices :)

I know that it sounds harsh, but I don't think that any other state's natives want immigrants from California. From the outside its a beautiful place that has been destroyed by the inhabitants. Afraid that y'all will vote for higher taxes and restrictions on personal freedom. It's surprising that pickups aren't banned from the left coast.
Diesel is $2.40 in Humble Texas today.

Glad you got what you like @Kapt . Washington state isn't much better, but diesel prices here fluctuate. Sometimes it's more than gas sometimes not. When it gets high here, I pop over to Oregon where they'll even pump it for me..... Good luck, I'm still loving my Eco so no plans to move on any time soon here.
